...both islands offer spectacular lush mountains, panoramic sea views and beautiful beaches
In a nutshell
Known to the Carib Indians as 'the fertile land', St Kitts has the only expanding rainforest in the world! Go exploring and you'll ramble past wild orchids, candlewoods and breadfruit as well as vervet monkeys and rare parrots flitting between the branches. Visit the Carib petroglyphs and the batik workshop at Romney Manor. Climb Brimstone Hill and look down over the majestic landscape from the fortress - keep your eyes peeled for those monkeys. From here you can see Nevis, the smaller and quieter neighbour-known as Oualie, the land of beautiful water, to the Caribes. It was here that Nelson met and married his wife Fanny Nisbet - check out his memorabilia at the Horatio Nelson Museum just outside pretty, bougainvillaea-filled Charlestown. Take a wander around this historic town - it's one of the best preserved in the Caribbean. Around this scenic island you'll find a number of restored plantation houses and forts to explore. Both St Kitts and Nevis have crystal clear waters allowing excellent wreck and reef diving and snorkelling.
