In Southern states such as Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia you'll find charming, historic towns full of period mansions and antebellum plantation houses. These states all share a rich and innovative heritage it's a land of cotton, molasses and tobacco, where the pace of life is slower and more genteel. You'll get used to being called 'Sir' and 'Ma'am' by just about everyone you meet - and having lengthy conversations with strangers who quickly feel like old friends.
Eats & drinks
Southern cuisine is unique and extensive Southernfried chicken and grits, biscuits (more like scones, normally served with gravy). Louisiana has Cajun and Creole cuisine with specialities such as Gumbo, spicy seafood, blackened redfish, shrimp remoulade, po-boys and much more. Don't go to the Deep South with any intention of dieting!
