In a nutshell
One of the USA's top cultural destinations, the buzz and excitement of New Orleans is legendary. Known as the City of Festivals, there is always something going on, including the most famous and colourful spectacle of them all, the Mardi Gras! A potpourri of musical richness, everything from zydeco and gospel to jazz and new age rock finds passionate expression in this city with music quite literally in the air wherever you go. Take the ferry across Old Man River or ride the turn-of-the-century carousel in City Park.
Eats & drinks
Grab a muffuletta or po-boy for lunch and munch it on a bench in one of the city parks. Evening dining is an experience in itself with many excellent restaurants serving delightful local dishes, including spicy seafood, blackened redfish, shrimp remoulade and Cajun delicacies.
Getting around
Although this is a foot-friendly city, a VisiTour pass, available for 1-day or 3-day durations, allows unlimited on-and-off travel on streetcars and buses.
