In a nutshell
One of the great cities in the world to visit, much of Boston's charm lies in the fact that you can walk around it easily. Follow the events that shaped US independence on the Freedom Trail (whilst stopping at a few of Boston's famous bars en route!). For an overview of the city, climb the Hancock Tower. A boat cruise is essential - go whale watching, or take one of the amphibious 'Duck' tours around the city and on the Charles River. Visit the house of Paul "the British are coming" Revere and the old warship 'Ironsides'. Sample the posh shopping of Newbury Street and the bargains of Filene's Basement. Try the Italian restaurants of the North End and make sure you visit one of the great coffee bars. They're not too fond of tea here - remember the Boston Tea Party?
Eats & drinks
The North End is crammed full of great Italian Restaurants, and the perfect caféés for enjoying a coffee and pastry. It would be a crime not to enjoy one of the famous Irish pubs of the Fanueil Hall.
Fun & games
There are some excellent late-night bars and clubs. Fancy a trip out of the city - discover the 'Witch' town of Salem, or the intellectual districts of Harvard and Cambridge.
Getting around
Is easy! Most sights are easily accessed by foot plus there's an efficient public transport system.
