In a nutshell
Palm Beach is one of Florida's best kept
secrets - and we've uncovered it for
you! Named after the palm trees which
are dotted around the area - the trees
are actually impostors! When a Spanish
cargo ship en route from Havana was
wrecked off the coast, the coconut
cargo was washed ashore and grew
up into the trees that Palm Beach is
named after!
It is well known for having a relaxed
Caribbean atmosphere as well as
beautiful beaches and a wonderful
mix of culture, history and nature.
There's so much to do here, you'll
never be bored - love to dive? - the
gulf stream runs close, warming the
water all year round and attracting
an amazing variety of wildlife. If you
prefer your wildlife inland, Palm
Beach is right on the edge of the
Everglades and you can catch an
airboat from Loxahatchee up the river
to see alligators, otters and plenty of
rare birdlife as you whizz upstream.
If you like the outdoors but you prefer
to appreciate it from the golf course,
you've come to the right place. There
are over 160 golf courses in the Palm
Beach area, probably why it's known as Florida's Golf Capital! And if even
golf sounds too energetic, there are
over 47 miles of great beaches across
Palm Beach, so you can grab your
beach towel and flop in the sunshine.
But where should you go to enjoy
your favourite activities? For the
ultimate in luxury we highly
recommend the beautiful and lavish
Boca Raton Resort and Club in
exclusive Boca Raton. There's golf,
water sports and a pampering health
spa. If you are looking for a lively
resort - head to West Palm Beach,
which has great nightlife and
entertainment, or Delray Beach,
which has plenty of bars, restaurants
and shops - along with a friendly,
relaxed atmosphere. Singer Island
- a short ferry ride from West Palm
Beach is a wonderful family resort
with excellent, kid-friendly beaches!
