In a nutshell
Arizona's most celebrated attraction is the world-famous Grand Canyon, while Utah boasts spectacular Monument Valley, but there's much more to be discovered in this 'big country' of canyons and lakes.
Phoenix has been immortalised in song, a place of romance that evokes the grandeur of the Wild West and the days of gold mines and saloon shoot-outs. The resorts we feature are in the up-market town of Scottsdale, adjacent to Phoenix.
The Beatles sang about Tucson, and this one-time colonial outpost has lots of fascinating history to discover, from the beautiful Spanish architecture of the 'Old Pueblo' to the ghostly landscape of the OK Corral. Plus excellent Mexican restaurants and live music venues.
Salt Lake City, set against the impressive Wasatch Mountains, has historic Temple Square, shops galore and a lively cultural centre.
You may remember the story of the crazy American who bought the old London Bridge - he rebuilt it at Lake Havasu, a 46-mile long lake and a paradise for water sports, and the beaches are excellent for sunbathing. Plus, there is a picture perfect 'English Village'!
Lake Powell has more shoreline than the Pacific coast of the USA! The 96 canyons are sure to impress - the best way to see them is by one of our cruise boats.
Utah also offers the natural delights of Bryce Canyon, with its incredible red rock spires, pinnacles and mazes, while Arches National Park has the largest display of natural arch formations - including 'Delicate Arch'.
