The adventure rating is only our opinion of how easy or difficult we consider an adventure to be for an average person. This should not be taken literally and is only a guide to help you consider whether it is suitable for you and your party. This is not only an indication of fitness levels required but is also designed to indicate the degree of adventure.
Taste of Adventure
(easy): no special level of fitness is required for these although there may be some physical exertion. The Adventure may include a fairly gentle activity e.g. exploring ruins, a cultural tour, a short hike, riding an elephant, a jeep safari or a day's gentle canoeing.
Adventurous
(medium): a reasonable level of fitness is required as some of these activities can at times be fairly physical. It may be a relatively easy activity but for an extended period of time e.g. canoeing on flat water for a 2-3 days, a 6-8 hour trek or rafting.
Truly Adventurous
(challenging): where a degree of strength, skill, or even nerve is required. This category includes predominantly activity based Adventures with long uphill hikes, rafting on white water or a ranch where riders need to be experienced.
