Barbados

As well as 'limin' (chilling out), you will have to find the time to fit in some 'wining' (no, not the drink - it's Bajan dancing), plus there's lots to see on this pretty coral island. To really understand Barbados, you must take to the waters - a catamaran tour gives you a totally different perspective, while snorkelling fans will enjoy spectacular underwater scenery.

Antigua

Very laid-back, it has beaches galore, safe waters and a nearly unbroken wall of coral reef. Horatio Nelson's fully restored dockyard makes for a great day out, as does the capital St John's with its lively market and duty-free shops. Take to the sea on a hired boat and explore Barbuda, approx 30 miles north. For panoramic views, climb Boggy Peak, the highest point on Antigua.

St Lucia

Most of the hotels are on the northwest coast, so we highly recommend you take some excursions round the island to appreciate its diversity. You could even hire a Jeep and drive where the fancy takes you! The famous Pitons are an essential stop, as is the drive-in volcano and botanical gardens.

Grenada

Perfect for a romantic, tranquil getaway, the island is only 22 miles by 12 miles with a largely rural, undeveloped feel to it. Spoil yourself with an all-inclusive hotel, or make use of the island's choice restaurants and convenient supermarkets if staying on room-only basis.

Tobago

This unspoiled Caribbean island is perfect for those seeking a quiet, laid-back holiday in beautiful surrounds. Only 26 miles by 7 miles wide, Tobago used to be part of South America and is home to wildlife usually only found on the geographical mainland.

Cuba

The Caribbean's biggest island offers all the pleasures we associate with this part of the world: sun, sea, sand and a laid-back vibe - but with a difference. Jamaica

Rolling hills contrast with steep gullies and the towering Blue Mountains beg to be explored. Dunn's River Falls is also breathtaking - both the view and the climb! The island's strong musical culture is everywhere - Bob Marley's legend and music really does live on here. Do visit Nine Mile - his birthplace.

St Martin

One half is owned by the French and the other by the Dutch. On the French side, the beaches are secluded, the resorts lavish and the restaurants serve gourmet cuisine. The Dutch side is informal with a bustling commercial district. Between the two of them, you should be able to find just about every ingredient you need for a perfect holiday!

St Kitts

Despite becoming increasingly popular, it remains uncrowded and unspoiled with peace and tranquillity in abundance. Famous the world over, sights to see include lava formations, tropical rainforest and seaside lagoons. There are also historic plantation houses and forts to explore.

Turks and Caicos
