Who is a Caribbean Flydrive For?
If you have your own accommodation arranged, you can combine a flight with
Virgin Atlantic or bmi with a week's car rental in a Flydrive Package. Please
note the flydrive cost for the Bahamas covers Nassau only and is not avilable
for Grand Bahama.
Driving Permits
You must get a temporary local driving licence when you arrive. The costs for these are currently:
Barbados US$5, St Lucia US$21, Antigua US$20, Grenada US$12.

Why book Caribbean Car Hire?
You may just want to get out and about for a day, or you may need a car for your full stay to transport your family and luggage around! Whatever your needs we can arrange for a car for 1 day or for 3 weeks, it's up to you. We offer flydrive packages or simply use the tables opposite to calculate the cost of car hire on it's own. At peak seasons you must pre-book to avoid disappointment.
Car Hire Inclusions
The rates we quote include Third Party insurance, local taxes and fees (except
St Lucia where an additional island tax of US$5 per day is payable locally).
CDW (collision damage waiver) is also included for car hire in Barbados, St
Lucia and Antigua. An excess is payable for Barbados and Tobago should
a claim be made. An ‘extra’ cost not included is the local charge
for a temporary local driving licence (current costs: US$5 for Barbados; US$20
for Grenada and US$21 for St Lucia and Grenada ). Additional drivers, baby seats and deliveries are also available.
Cuba Chauffer Drive
Cuba is a fantastic country to explore, but the road signs are few and far
between and unless you speak good Spanish, hiring a car can be quite a challenge!
"But we want to get out on our own", I hear you cry! Don't worry we
have arranged private chauffer drive options so that you can put together your
own sightseeing itinerary and see Cuba as you wish.
Private Airport Transfers
Why not make even more of your holiday experience and travel to your resort in true style by upgrading to a private car? A driver will be waiting at the airport to whisk you away and take you straight to your hotel. Private transfers are available at selected resorts across the Caribbean.
Daily Hire: £95 per car per day.
This includes 8 hours of driving and 200km per day. (Extra hours can be booked
before travel for £10 per hour or arranged locally on arrival).
Loads of Luggage? Upgrade Now if You Need To!
If you are collecting a small vehicle like a Mini Moke, remember there is not
much room for piles of Luggage!
Driving in the Caribbean
It's on the left in all three islands. Please remember: if you have a bump
you MUST report it to the police. Please note that in the Bahamas, vehicles
are imported from the USA and therefore the drivers seat is also on the left.
Trustworthy Rental Partners
In Barbados and St Lucia our cars are supplied by Drive-A-Matic Car Rentals.
In Antigua, they are supplied by Dollar Rent a Car. Sanvics supply our hire cars
in Grenada. In Grenada, they are supplied by Sanvics, and in Tobago, our cars are supplied by Thrifty.
Mimimum and Maximum Driver Age Restrictions
Please note that there may be minimum and maximum driver age restrictions.
In all Islands except Barbados the minimum age to hire a car is 25 years. In Barbados the minimum age is 21 years. Drivers over 65 years of age require a medical certificate from their GP for insurance purposes confirming they are fit to drive a vehicle. During Christmas and peak periods, rentals will be on request and confirmed within 24 hours.
Important Information for St Lucia Car Hire
The St Lucia Government has taken the decision to levy a tax on all visitors
to the island taking car hire. This tax is US$5.00 per car per day and is payable
locally to Drive-a-Matic.
