Think palm trees, crystal waters and coconut rum. Think Barbados! - The
most easterly of the Caribbean Islands. With its history based on centuries
of British rule, you will notice the familiar place names and love of cricket
mixed with the relaxed and friendly Bajan way of life.
Culture
You can't leave the island without trying some local delicacies such as Flying Fish - the staple food of the Bajans - very tasty fried, in a cutter (sandwich). If you are after something a little more adventurous then try the Puddin' & Souse - a local sausage made with sweet potato and spicy seasoning served with pickled pork.
Shopping and Markets
Bridgetown is famous for duty free shopping and tends to have the best selection of goods. There is also the Pelican Craft Centre to visit and just further down you will stumble across Bridgetown market - this is a truly local shopping experience.
Beaches
The sophisticated west coast boasts some beautiful white sand beaches with gentle waves. South coast beaches are wide with waters perfect for boogie boarding. There are plenty of reefs for divers and swimming with turtles is awesome.
Key Events
Barbados is home to some of the most amazing celebrations in the Caribbean. In January each year the island pays homage to Jazz with a festival to remember. Not forgetting Crop Over, a five-week summer festival, it's origins can be traced back to the 1970's, a time when Barbados was the world's largest producer of sugar.
FREE Island Experience
We offer all guests a FREE duty-free shopping shuttle to Bridgetowm. Broad Street is the main shopping area where you'll find diamonds, jewellery and so much more at cheaper prices than the UK high street.
