Southern Caribbean
This area takes in many islands, including Aruba and Antigua, both of which are famous for their beautiful white sandy beaches and local charm, whereas Martinique, St Lucia and Guadeloupe offer amazing scenery, varying from exotic rainforests and botanical gardens to volcanoes. Curaçao is a fabulous destination for snorkelling and scuba-diving, but even more so is sibling Bonaire St Bart’s. Not forgetting Dominica and Grenada, which both offer a unique experience with secluded coves and spice markets galore.
Western Caribbean
The traditional ports for this area of the Caribbean include Belize, home to the ancient Mayan civilisation, and Grand Cayman where you can walk the magnificent Seven Mile Beach. Jamaica is also another favourite – you may get to visit the area of Ocho Rios or Montego Bay depending on your cruise line, but remember not to miss the scenic ride to one of Jamaica’s premier attraction, Dunn’s River Falls. There is such an array of activities and sights for you to experience on these islands that no matter which ones you visit, you are sure to have a great time.
Eastern Caribbean
The Eastern Caribbean region encompasses the British and American Virgin Islands, including Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, which is a small tropical island far away from everyday stress. There is also St Thomas UVI, the capital of the US Virgin Islands, which is volcanic and cloaked in green with a spine of mountains running from east to west. Puerto Rico is another destination you may visit, not forgetting the 2 nation/1 island St Maarten and St Martin, and the Bahamas. There are plenty of well-organised activities, from duty-free shopping and water sports to historic, desolated beaches and hip restaurants.
Mexico
There are so many ports of interest within Mexico, all offering something completely different. Visit the ‘Pearl of the Pacific’, Mazatlan, offering miles of beautiful coastline. Beach lovers will find enchantment in the island’s calm, crystal waters and sunny beaches.
