Ocean Pointe Suites at Key Largo

Just back from a trip to Florida Keys and pitched up at Ocean Pointe Suites without a reservation, but recommended by the Tourist Information office in Key Largo. We had read some of the reviews about the suites, but on check in, Marie gave us a choice and handed over the keys to the first of three possible suites we could use for three nights. We chose the first one we saw and were not disappointed at all. Everything was spotless and the rooms were plenty big enough for us and we looked over the ocean from our (small) balcony. We only ate breakfast in and ate out around Tavernier and Key Largo the rest of the time with a one night on arrival eating in their own bar restaurant. OK and like reasonable pub grub. Perfect spot, quiet, clean, pool super and sooooo warm..........no rowdiness (they don't tolerate it) and all in all a great place to stay. On check out we were asked our opinion and told them we were very happy - although we had read some bad reviews....this, they said, was because some visitors booked direct with owners and some (not all) owners wouldn't pay to use the maid service and some didn't update their condos................so if you go - and why not? make sure to book direct with the Suites people themselves and you will have no trouble. We made Key Largo the last leg of our trip to Florida because we knew it would be quieter than Key West and would be ideal for chilling for the last few days. Ocean Pointe Suites with it's beautiful scenic grounds didn't disappoint us. The rooms were lovely and had a lovely view of the ocean and wooded area. The pool was a 'real, swimming pool and was like a warm bath, wonderful! The only negative here that we found was that the little bit of beach was a bit to0 shallow and had a lot of seaweed so wasn't too enticing, but as I said....terrific pool! Also, unlike our stay in Key West you had to take the car to any restaurants as they were not within walking distance, but we still enjoyed a wonderful time here and we would return here on future visits to Key Largo. Ocean Pointe is the perfect location for fisherman and divers with a boat. The resort offers a private harbor with numerous docks and boatr ramp. I'm planning a return trip in August. Close

Our stay at this hotel was more or less based on price. We wanted a hotel/motel/... with good value for the money and it turned out to be a good choice. The rooms are actually condos owned by someone else, and we guess the interior can vary between rooms. Ours was very nice, it even had a Swedish book! Since we only stayed for one night and didn't use any of the services offered, we can't say anything about this. WiFi internet was not available in our room but it was in the lobby. Close

My husband is disabled and needs a wheelchair or walker. For the second year is a row the elevator stopped working. Last year he was trapped in the condo for 24 hours and this year the elevator stopped working for over a week necessitating a change to another building. All condos are on second floor or above. Close
