Nickelodeon Family Suites

We stayed here for our 8 year old son. He loved it. We only left the hotel one day to go to Sea World (they offer a free shuttle)even though we had a free next day pass, there was plenty to do all day. We did the arts and crafts, saw the movie by the pool, my husband, my 6'4, 250 pound husband, was in the Nick live show, ate with the characters and played the video games. The video games are kind of pricey and the character breakfast is 19.95 a person-$13.95 for kids but it was worth. The only drawback is even though there is a little mini mart in the mall, the stuff is soooo expensive but there is nothing with walking distance so make sure you bring anything you need-water, snacks-the food was not tasty but there is the Pizza Hut and Subway. Oh, and the lifeguards are AWESOME, they are so vigilant. We had to leave the pool each day around 5 b/c of pending storms but they reopen as soon as it is safe. Allow them to show you to your room as it is huge and easy to get lost the first time-worth the tip. Close

This was going to be the 4th or 5th time I had stayed at Nick Hotel but our travel plans had changed. I cancelled May 4, 2009 and kept confirmation that Nick Hotel had received my confirmation. Despite my cancellation, Nick Hotel charged me a one-night "no show" fee. I called Nick Hotel and they refused to credit my American Express. I then disputed the charge with American Express but Wilda Pena of Nick Hotel claimed I had only given two days notice, not the requisite three, even though I had email confirmation directly from the hotel that I had cancelled my reservation three days in advance and Ms. Pena had nothing to substantiate her allegation. I have emailed Ms. Pena and contacted Erin McGuiness, the reservation manager but no one had responded. So... beware of cancellations, people. I did everything the way I was supposed to do it and Nick Hotel refuses to make this right or even give me the time of day. Close

We stayed at the Nick Hotel May 23rd-30th and cannot say enough about this place! It really amazes me when reading all of the negative reviews. It definately says alot about the people that write them and just how unhappy people truly are that they couldn't have fun at this hotel. We bought park hopper tickets for the Disney parks and every day by 1:00 our kids were begging to go back to the hotel. We could have save a lot of money and just had our entire vacation at the Nick Hotel. From the time we checked in until the day we left it was so much fun watching our kids be so happy. The rooms were very spacious and very clean. The staff was very friendly and never walked by you without smiling and saying Hello. The pools were obviously the highlight of the hotel. I loved that the big pool was shallow enough at one end and the water slides went down into shallow water that we could sit in our loungers and watch the kids without having to be in the pool with them every second. The amount of lifeguards on duty was also truly remarkable. I have never seen so many attentive people that really seemed to care about the kids in the pool and also seemed to enjoy their jobs. This was by far the best vacation we have ever taken and have already talked about coming back again someday! Just remember that all adventures are what you make of them and we really had an amazing SLIME!!!!!!!!!!! Close

We stayed at Nick Hotel for 2 nights in early March. It was our first time there. Our kids ages were 4, 6 and 11. We all had fun and would return. Weather was in the 70's so the heated swimming pool was great. The water slides were freezing so we bribed the kids to go on them. The hot tubs said no younger kids and I'm glad we weren't kicked out since it was a nice place to spend a few minutes after the main pool but before going back to our room. Younger kids loved having their own their own bunkroom w/ TV they could also play games on. We rented games from the arcade onsite. Internet access kept my husband on top of his emails (via his laptop) when we were chilling in the room at night. The rooms were plenty clean and stocked. We had no complaints. The girl checking us in was not friendly which was weird since we were the only ones in line checking in. She seemed annoyed w/ my questions about the facility and kept drawing all over the map of the facility. If we went back I'd request a room closer to the Mall which houses the restaurants, shops and arcade. We had to make many trips back and forth from the Mall to our room which was time consuming. Checking out the game to play in the room had to be done in the arcade in the mall, getting the bus schedule to Disney had to be picked up at the mall. The bus left from the mall. You get the jist. We did the character breakfast one morning. The younger kids had a ball. My 11 year old had her hair tossled by Squidward which was quite funny. One glitch was the bus schedule mentioned picking up the return bus at the "Ticket and Transportation Center". Apparently we had to leave the Disney grounds on the ferry to the bus depot then walk a mile to the bus lane. At least it seemed that way w/ younger kids tired from a day at Disney World. In hindsight we would've taken a cab from Disney back to Nick Hotel. It would've been a big time-saver. We've only been to Disney one other time 7 years ago and not experts at knowing where to go. Our first night we went to the show located in the Mall. There was a convenience shop located in the mall where we could buy single drinks and beers to take into the show. The show had 2 teams competing against each other. The (family) teams were already formed when the show started so I'm not sure how the families were chosen. Maybe they were in line to watch the show early? I also picked up a bag of powdered donuts, OJ and some fruit to have in the room the next morning. We picked up Subway and Pizza Hut and took it back to our room. The prices were no higher than you'd find off-premises. We did not do the spa. We got a deal on our room rate through Travelzoo.com so we were fine paying what we did. Ended up getting vouchers for free food and drinks which helped. The food in the mall is not gourmet but there was a good variety. Close

We left the Nick Hotel asking ourselves, "This was it?" Just like a fledgling business who has no focus, Nick Hotel presented itself as something that really didn't want to be there and had to be in existence to compete with the toursism dollar. The marketing of the hotel is great, because our daughter has been begging us for three years to go there. Yet, when we arrived the grounds and the room was "tired", the service was marginal, the food was overpriced and the entertainers and characters were either "there" or were limited on talent. I guess the attitude I took away from the hotel and it's management is that they're more focused on television programming and merchandising than providing a hotel experience that is out of this world. Which is ok, I guess. But at some point, the bigshots at Nick will have to decide which direction to keep going, because at this rate, the hotel will never be more than a mediocre option in a marketplace that is known for making "dreams come true".
