Can you guarantee professional photographic and videographic services?
Freelancers are employed to take Photographs and videos and whilst they work to the highest standards locally equipment and facilities may not be comparable to UK standards. 'Virgin Holidays will not assume any responsibility in the event of any malfunction of video or photographic equipment'. In some instances wedding videos will need converting. We suggest where possible you view your photographs and video prior to leaving resort.
When will we get our marriage certificate?
In some destinations you will receive your certificate in resort, others it may take up to 3 months for your certificate to be processed and forwarded to you. If you require more than one copy you can make this request in resort or you can have your solicitor duplicate a copy on return to the UK
What happens if we would like our marriage blessed on our return?
In some destinations your marriage certificate can take up to 3 months to be processed. If you intend to have your marriage blessed on return to the UK please contact us prior to making arrangements.
What day of the week will our wedding take place?
Weddings at most destinations take place Monday - Friday only (excluding Public holidays) Cypress Grove in Orlando are Monday - Thursday, Disney weddings in Orlando are Monday - Thursday for a Premium. The majority of locations require a 3 working day residency period - (this does not include your day of arrival). Your date will be confirmed to you in writing and your time is strictly on a request and finalised in resort. In exceptional circumstances the date of your wedding may have to be rescheduled, please bear this in mind if you intend to have your jewellery engraved or print wedding invitations .
Where will our wedding ceremony take place?
After consulting with the wedding co-ordinator you can choose the location of your ceremony. Usually this will be within the grounds of the wedding hotel, or a gazebo. It is not always possible to request a beach location. Disney weddings depending on the package chosen will take place at a specified wedding location or the wedding pavilion.
If I have been previously married can I travel using my maiden name?
You can use your maiden name if you have the relevant paperwork to confirm that you have officially reverted to your maiden name. You will need a 'Change of Name by Deed Poll' document from your solicitor.
What documentation is required for a wedding abroad?
Documentation - please check with us for full details, however, you usually need the following:
- Passport
- Birth Certificate
- Divorce Decree Absolute (if applicable)
- Single Status Affidavit (if applicable)
- Change of Name Deed (if applicable)
- Death Certificate and Marriage Certificate of Deceased Spouse (if applicable)
Age limit without parents consent in most destinations is 18years
Some of our documents are written in a foreign language - is this a problem?
All documents should be in English. If your documents are in another language a certified translation is required. This can be a lengthy process so please leave plenty of time.
Will we need to complete any paperwork in resort?
Allow yourselves at least half a day prior to your wedding day to deal with legal formalities. In the majority of destinations this will be carried out away from your hotel. We can arrange transfers to the relevant office however this may incur an additional fee.
What should we wear for our wedding?
Cool cottons or lightweight clothes are a good idea. During mid afternoon the sun can be at its hottest, traditional dress may be unbearable and difficult for the Beach Bride to wear. Grooms wear a lightweight and light-coloured suit as this will not attract the sun as much as dark colours do. Brides think about the style choose a style which will give you maximum comfort in the heat. It really is an individual choice, casual or traditional is accepted in most locations.
How do we transport our wedding attire?
Wedding attire should be carried as part of your hold baggage allowance. If travelling on any airline other than Virgin Atlantic, please check with the airline concerned regarding their baggage allowances.
Can we have our wedding outfits pressed?
This can usually be arranged at the hotel. You will find that due to the natural humidity of a warmer climate most if not all creases will drop out of the garment once they are unpacked.
Can we hire wedding outfits?
Some destinations offer suit and tuxedo hire, however wedding dresses differ in style and can be extremely limited in choice.
Are hair and beauty services available?
These services will be available either at your hotel or a neighbouring hotel or beauty salon. Some destinations we can arrange for a beautician and hairdresser to come to your hotel. You should make your appointment as soon as possible after arrival.
What should we do about the Sun?
You will be tempted to expose yourself to the sun in the first few days of your holiday, be careful not to overdo it. Use a high factor suncream. Brides who will be wearing an off the shoulder number choose a swimming costume with removable straps! There is nothing worse than white strap marks in your photographs.
What will our wedding flowers be like?
In many destinations flowers for the bridal bouquet and grooms buttonhole are often taken from the hotel's gardens and therefore vary from season to season. Where possible we suggest that you make your choice in resort. The majority of USA destinations include carnations For more elaborate styles and content you may encounter a supplement payable locally.
Can we book optional extras?
Optional extras vary in price and availability with each hotel or venue and are paid for in resort. Further information can be obtained from our wedding department.
Can you provide music for our wedding?
Most hotels offer the facility for you to play your own cassette or CD.
Can we invite guests to our wedding?
Look for the fantastic offers for groups. Many of the wedding packages offer a free wedding depending on the size of your party. Your friends and relatives can even stay at other properties and attend your wedding if they purchase a day pass which will enable them to enter your hotel and use the facilities within the resort.
We are staying at a couples/adult only resort but have guests with children - will it be possible for them to attend our wedding?
The majority of adult only properties do not allow children to attend a wedding, very few make exceptions to this rule.
