Destination information
For anyone with a passion for skiing, Lake Louise is one of the ultimate experiences. With 4,200 skiable acres of pristine wilderness set in the heart of Banff National Park, Lake Louise is one of the largest single ski areas in North America. The backdrop is glorious, with breathtaking views that are hard to beat, and the snow is incredible. No wonder skiing in Lake Louise is a favourite with British skiers who know their stuff.
The magnificent natural snow record is backed up by Canada’s largest snowmaking system. The Lake’s huge wide open bowls lay claim to some of the driest, lightest snow in North America – making for a long season of exceptional skiing. Lake Louise caters brilliantly for every level, with everything from perfectly groomed beginners’ runs to double black diamonds and the amazing Purple Bowl. Best of all, there are green, blue and black runs down from every chair, allowing beginners as well as more experienced skiers and boarders to enjoy this fantastic mountain. Lake Louise is also host to the FIS World Cup every winter.
Enjoy unspoiled scenery, great value for money and guaranteed friendly local hospitality. Be sure to plan a visit to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, for lunch or dinner. The experience itself is worth the drive up the hill!
Après-ski
Despite its large ski area, Lake Louise itself is a relatively quiet place. It is the perfect retreat for nature-lovers seeking to break away from routine and unwind. Nonetheless, the lower village has an array of bars, a nightclub and a range of fine dining and reasonably priced restaurants for you to choose from, as well as those ever important shops.
