spaces are ideal for a driving holiday with beaches, mountains and, of course, game parks to explore. The road network is
superb and well maintained and the signposting generally good, so it is hard to get lost!
Important information
Drivers licence
A full UK unendorsed driver's licence or International driving licence is required.
Additional drivers
Additional Drivers are ZAR 210 per rental per driver unless you have purchased our max cover rates
which include 1 additional driver FREE.
Value added tax and surcharges
Value added tax and airport surcharges are included in the price.
Child seats
Request at time of booking. Children under 2 years must be placed in a child seat. Cost ZAR250 per
child seat.
Deposit
A refundable deposit of ZAR1500 is payable on arrival. Deposits can only be paid by Credit Card.
Collection and delivery
We can arrange for your car to be delivered or collected to/from your hotel. The charge for this
varies between ZAR220-ZAR420 depending on the distance from the Avis depot and whether
it is within working hours or not. Please call us for details.
Car insurance
All our car prices include collision damage waiver (CDW), personal accident insurance (PAI) and
theft loss waiver (TLW). In the event of an accident an excess of ZAR7000 will be applicable unless
you have purchased our max cover product which reduces this to zero. An accident handling fee will
be applicable in the event of an accident/theft at all times of ZAR 500.
Rental contract fee
A contract fee of ZAR50 per rental agreement is payable locally and applicable to each and
every rental.
One-way rentals within South Africa
One-ways within the greater metropolitan areas are FREE of charge ie. Cape Town to Stellenbosch,
Durban to Pietemarizburg, Johnannesburg to Pretoria or vice versa.
All other one-ways incur one-way fees, payable locally.
Over border rentals
If you are picking and dropping off your car in South Africa you are still able to drive into Namibia,
Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana but you must have a letter of authority to do this from Avis.
This can be obtained from the Avis counter when you collect the car and a local charge of R1,003
is payable if travelling to Namibia and Botswana.
