This short but action packed excursion offers you the opportunity to get close to some of Canada’s most thrilling wildlife, including black bears which populate this region in large numbers. Shy creatures, they are also generally good-natured, but don’t worry, you’re experienced guide will be able to tell if they’re in a good mood or not! Your base is Duchesnay Station, 30 minutes from Quebec City on the banks of Lac Saint-Joseph. Heavily forested, this all-season resort offers cosy lodge accommodation and plenty of outdoor adventure. In-between bear watching, enjoy some canoeing perhaps or explore the easy-going trails that wind through the forest on foot or bicycle.
Day 1 – arrive at Duchesnay Station Ecotouristique
After making your way to Duchesnay Station Ecotouristique, settle in at your lodge before heading out to explore. If it’s a hot day, a swim will cool you off, otherwise rent a canoe, kayak or pedal boat for a journey downstream. Not far from Duchesnay is a bike trail which runs alongside Riviere Jacques-Cartier for 14 kms, perfect for the cycling enthusiast! There’s also croquet, shuffleboard, petanque, badminton and volley-ball or simply grab a lounger, relax and admire the view.
Day 2 – Duchesnay Station Ecotouristique
You’ve plenty of free time again today to indulge in a few more outdoor activities, including rock climbing, archery or a guided excursion with a Regard Forestier. Make sure you’re back for 5.30pm though as that’s when you’ll be picked up from your lodge and whisked 10 kms away for a spot of bear watching. Cameras at the ready as you experience these impressive creatures in their natural environment – surely the experience of a lifetime! Afterwards, you’ll be transferred back to your lodge for dinner and the chance to discuss the wonders you’ve seen with fellow guests.
Day 3 – Return to Quebec City
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading back to Quebec City to continue your holiday.
