After spending a few days in historic Quebec City venture further afield to explore the surrounding countryside, filled with iconic red barns and prosperous farms. The might Appalachian Mountains will impress as will dozens of picturesque villages, bursting with charm. In summer, there are countless mountain trails to hike, in winter snowshoeing and skiing are popular. In autumn, find a peak and admire the rolling sea of red and orange maple trees stretching out into the distance. Afterwards, visit a sugar shack to find out how syrup is produced and to taste some of course!
The Laurentian mountains, home to the beautiful St Alexis des Monts and hundreds of clear water lakes will impress, as will dozens of picturesque villages such as Sainte Catherine de la Jacques Cartier or La Malbaie bursting with charm and a certain French influence. In summer, there are countless mountain trails to hike or bike along, as well as the huge range of other activities on offer in this truly vast region. Tremblant famous in winter for snowshoeing and skiing is also a fantastic summer resort, whilst the town of Tadoussac offers fabulous whale watching opportunities from its shores.
