The hometown of Otis Redding, Little Richard and James Brown, find out all about them and other famous artists at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in Macon. The quintessential southern town, Macon is big on charm and hospitality. There’s also Hay House to discover, originally called the ‘Palace of the South’ and famed confederate soldier Sidney Lanier’s cottage. A short drive away is the stunning Oconee National Forest if you fancy a spot of hiking, fishing and mountain biking. If not, stick to the town where there are shops galore, the Museum of Arts and Science and a handful of good ‘ole southern cuisine serving eateries where you’ll be welcomed like a long, lost relative!
