The service was very good in the hotel from all the staff , especially the doorman is very helpful and knowledgable. The room was clean with air con, heater, with fresh towels, tea &coffee 24 hours, breakfast is nice, free interent access, iron, toiletries, there is lots of places to eat around such has a pizza place few doors down very fresh and big slices. there is a subway . than around empire state bulding there is macdonalds, burger king, wendys. if u fancy an indian than u can go to little india the whole street has indian restaurants , taj mahal is a nice restaurant for ten dollars u get a set meal. I liked everything about New York . Natural History museum, central park, central park zoo, united nations, circle cruise, brooklyn night tour, ellis Island , statue of liberty, empire state building, regal cinema in time square, madam tussards. use the hop of hop off bus the blue buses where good i managed to make a deal of $86 dollars for 5 days instead of 3 days including several free tours. This was the best holiday i have ever had lots to eat and lots to see. I would go back again Close

I have just come back from a fantastic 5 night stay at this hotel. This is my first visit to this hotel with my partner. The hotel is small and very friendly and upon arrival at the hotel we were made to feel very welcome and given lots of information about the City. The rooms were very small but also very clean and we had clean towels and bed linen everyday. The breakfast was a nice added bonus as most hotels are room only. It is important to bear in mind that the rooms are very basic and were very small we were surprised at how small they are but we were both so tired most evenings as there is so much to see and do and lots of walking this did not spoil our holiday. We had a room on the 5th floor at the back of the hotel and I would recommend to any guest to ask for a room on the back as we were not effected by noise as we had been warned of the noise at night from traffic etc.. My only grumble was the very uncomfortable hard beds this is because me and my partner both have bad backs so we could not get comfortable. A fridge would have been handy as it is cheaper to stock up on drinks and snacks at a supermarket rather than the mini-bar. I would definitely stay at this hotel again as the location was brillant if you turn right out of the hotel about 5 monutes walk you have Macys and about a 10 minute walk to Time Square. Also very close by was the Empire State. I did not go up this but there was a brillant 2 day bus tour that the hotel offer which includes a boat trip to see the Statue of Liberty and also entry to the Rockfellar centre - well worth the money and I would highly recommend. One further tip for first time NYC holidaymakers is that make use of the free internet facility as we had to check in online going home which is all new to us and also make use of the 24 hour free tea and coffee in the dining room area. NYC is a faboulous place for lots of sightseeing and shopping, go to Woodbury Common for cheaper designer clothes you will need a suitcase to bring everything you like home. Also there is a great Pizza place off of Time Square called John's Pizzeria (ask the hotel staff) very large pizzas and very nice to eat.. Hope you all enjoy.. Close

My wife and I have recently returned from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Metro New York. The hotel is ideally located between 5th and 6th Avenues and situated on 35th street. For those of you not familiar with Manhattan, the Island is structured in such a way that it is easy to navigate. The avenues run North to South and the streets East to West. With the subway at Herald square being literally a minute’s walk away, you can easily and efficiently get around with no fuss at all. The hotel itself has a contemporary feel to it and the rooms are comfortable and well designed. The continental breakfasts are a nice addition and you can stock up on the fruit to give you a good start to the day. The rooftop bar is a great feature and is well worth a visit to chill out and check out the views. However the prices are not the cheapest so beware. We found the hotel staff to be pleasant and informative and we used the recommended airport shuttle bus company for our departure back to Newark airport. We never got round to dining at the hotel’s grill bar as the choice on offer elsewhere is vast and more reasonably priced. For eating out and drinks, we tried a variety of locations. Little India, Chinatown and Little Italy are well worth a visit and we found the subway to be safe even late at night. Close

Breakfast fantastic perk as many hotels don't have this. Self service and included: yoghurt, bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit salad, coffee ,juice, toast etc. Plastic crockery but great. Can help yourself to coffee and tea throughout the day and night. Could use internet for free on second floor (2 computers). Staff friendly. Fresh towels and beautifully made bed everyday. Room was big (see pics) - in disabled room. Not much natural light due to looking inwards onto rest of hotel but not a problem. Looked forward to coming back here every afternoon! This hotel is in a fantastic location between 5th and 6th avenues in midtown. The hotel is less than a block from the Empire State Building and you have to visit the roof bar of the hotel to see the view of the Empire State Building. The rooms are fine, nothing outstanding but clean and functional. There are a few nice resturants and bars close by (Brandon's opposite the hotel is outstanding) and Macy's is at the end of the street. The only complaint I had about the hotel was the staff. On our first night there we got stuck in the elevator with several other guests. The desk clerk on duty was irritatedand rude when we rang the alarm, he was not helpful at all. When we complained the next day the hotel manager didn't see what our problem was and refused to hear any complaints. Aside from the service issue this is a great base to explore the city. Close
