This friendly, family-run working ranch is set over 725 acres of land, in the heart of Texan cowboy country. It is a working ranch with traditional herds of long-horn cattle and cashmere goats, and pigs are raised so you can learn exactly how it feels to be a real cowboy! Activities include horse riding, fishing, hiking, hayrides and traditional western fun like dancing, singalongs and campfires.
The Ranch
Dixie Dude Ranch has been owned by the same family for over 5 generations and is located in Texas Hill Country, 8 miles from the authentic western town of Bandera. The Conoly family welcome you warmly and invite you to enjoy both ranching activities and more traditional holiday sports. There's a lovely outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, which you might need to soak in after a hard day in the saddle! You and your family set your own pace, so there's no need to leap out of bed at 6.00am if you don't want to. Although with all the activities on offer, you might not be able to stop the kids from rising early. Explore the numerous hiking trails, hunt for fossils and check out the century-old barn and Range War Cemetery for starters. Or enjoy planned activities such as horse riding (beginners welcome), swimming, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, table tennis and dancing. Once you've worked up a good appetite, you can join ranchers and other guests for a tasty, home-cooked feast in the lively family dining room. There are also outdoor barbecues, Sunday fried chicken and the occasional cowboy breakfast out on the range. Guests who just want to kick back and relax in the hot Texan sunshine can stretch out by the pool or enjoy a range of massage treatments from trained staff.
