Boston - Salem and Maine

Salem and Maine - White Mountains

This morning we begin with a stop at Portland Head Light - a delightful example of one of Maine's many lighthouses. Next it's on to New Hampshire's White Mountains by way of the picturesque Kancamagus Highway - an old Indian trail which cuts through the National Forest. Included is an amazing aerial tram ride to the summit of Cannon Mountain to admire the breathtaking scenery from the air (weather permitting).

Film classic On Golden Pond was filmed in this delightful region, dotted with hundreds of ponds and 1,300 lakes. Passing Winnipesaukee and Squam lakes, you'll head on to Vermont's spectacular Green Mountains, taking in Quechee Gorge and the quaint village of Woodstock.

This morning we head south through the pastoral splendour of Vermont. There's a stop at the fantastic Manchester Village designer outlet to stock up on all those designer bargains, as well as a visit to Hancock Shaker Village included in the tour.
Connecticut River Valley - Newport and Cape Cod
2 nights' accommodation at Radisson Hyannis
Today we'll travel through the USA's smallest state: Rhode Island, visiting the sailing capital Newport with its palatial mansions - touring one of the more extravagant ones. Then it's on to delightful Cape Cod where you can enjoy a trip to Martha's Vineyard or a whale-watching trip. En route back to Boston we'll visit Sandwich - the Cape's oldest town, and Plimoth Plantation - a living museum of the original pilgrim era, where entry is included. Then, sadly, it's back to Boston to catch your flight back to Blighty!
