Tour ItineraryTour Itinerary

Boston, MassachusettsBoston, Massachusetts

3 nights accommodation at Nine Zero Hotel
Arrive in Boston and pick up your hire car and make your way to the hotel (Alternatively, for a supplement, prebook a transfer to your hotel and arrange to collect your hire car from a downtown location on the day of departure from Boston). At the hotel a package awaits you containing all necessary vouchers, driving directions, sightseeing/attractions information, maps and other useful information. You’ve 3 nights to enjoy this justifiably popular city, home of the Red Sox, clam ‘chowder’ and the ‘Cheers’ bar (actually called the Bull and Finch Pub and serving delicious wings, nachos and burgers). One of the best ways to get to grips with its turbulent history is walking the Freedom Trail, a 2.5 mile route which winds along some of Boston’s – and the nation’s – most important historical sites including the Old South Meeting House, where colonists in 1773 orchestrated the less than genteel Boston Tea Party! In-between landmarks, shop ‘til you drop on Newbury Street and Beacon Hill, the latter jam-packed with antique shops. Across the Charles River lies Cambridge or Boston’s ‘Left Bank’ as it is known. Some say it’s funkier than the city centre so head over there and see for yourself!

Midcoast MaineMidcoast Maine

3 nights accommodation at Sebasco Harbour Resort
After fun and frolics in Boston, it’s time to hop in your car for the journey, via Portland, to the Midcoast region of Maine. A stunning area, you’ll gain a real insight into a world that has proudly maintained its maritime history and the wild beauty of its coast. Portland is Maine’s largest city and packed with galleries, one-of-a-kind boutiques and incredible restaurants serving lobster rolls and that clam chowder we mentioned earlier! Just 15 minutes from Portland is Freeport, another coastal gem and home to world-famous L.L. Bean. Outdoor adventures abound here including Atlantic seal cruises, sailing and kayaking. Nearby Brunswick is where you’ll find Bowdoin College, the oldest in Maine. Find out all about this charming town at the Pejepscot Historical Society Museum then head off to one nearby Popham Beach, perfect for a spot of r and r!

White Mountains, New HampshireWhite Mountains, New Hampshire

3 nights accommodation at Manor on Golden Pond
Travel to New Hampshire today for a 3-day exploration of the White Mountains, a visual feast with sparkling lake and rivers, majestic mountains and clear, blue skies. A trip to the summit of Mt Washington is a must. The highest in north-eastern North America, on a clear day it’s possible to see into 5 states – New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York – even Canada! Also recommended is a ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad, letting the train take the strain as you relax in olde world grandeur. Stop at North Conway’s factory outlets to stock up on bargains before heading home again. A cruise on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee is another highlight.

The Berkshires, MassachusettsThe Berkshires, Massachusetts

4 nights accommodation at Cranwell Resort Spa & Golf Club
On your way to the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts, stop en route at Manchester Village, an attractive small town in which to shop for more bargains at outlet stores. The Francine Clarke Art Institute in Williamstown is another welcome diversion, known locally as ‘the Clarke’ you can admire the works of Degas, Renoir and John Singer Sargent. Alternatively, spend some time at restored 19th century settlement, the Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield which brings the Shaker story vividly to life. Continue to Stockbridge, once home to Norman Rockwell whose works can be admired at a museum dedicated to him. Then it’s on to Lennox, summer home of the Boston Symphony and nearby historic Cranwell Resort Spa and Golf Club, your base for the next 4 nights.

Boston, MassachusettsBoston, Massachusetts

En-route to Boston’s Logon Airport travel the lovely Mohawk Trail, New England’s first scenic road, open since 1914. Don’t miss the Bridge of Flowers, the only one of its kind in the world. Over 500 varieties of annuals and perennials are planted and tended by local volunteers who work with the head gardener to ensure year-round blooming. Later, return to Boston to drop your car and catch your flight with plenty of wonderful memories to accompany you home!
