Tour Itinerary
Seattle
2 night’s accommodation at Sixth Avenue Inn
Arrive in Seattle and transfer to your comfortable downtown hotel. After settling yourself in, it’s time to explore. Seattle is an exciting and vibrant city with much to see and do. Acquaint yourself on a Ride the Ducks! tour on both land and sea, marvelling at the Seattle waterfront, historic Pioneer Square, the downtown shopping district and Pike Place Market. See what it’s like to be a rock star at the Experience Music Project or travel to the stars at the Science Fiction Museum. For wildlife lovers there’s the Woodland Park Zoo, hailed as one of the finest in the world. A trip to the observation deck of the Seattle Space Needle is also highly recommended for breathtaking views!
Seattle - Olympic Peninsula
1 night’s accommodation at Red Lion Port Angeles
It’s up bright and early this morning to begin your journey. Pier 52 is your first stop for a short hop across the ocean on-board the Washington State Ferry to Bainbridge Island. From here, it’s onwards to the Olympic Peninsula, anchored by the majestic Olympic Mountains. Nowhere else in America is there such diversity of terrain and weather, with easy access to lakes, waterfalls, rivers and rainforests. Natural wonders include the Olympic National Park, a designated World Heritage Site and Biosphere. Hurricane Ridge is one of the most popular destinations in the Park, offering a variety of hiking trails and magnificent vistas of glacier-covered peaks and steep river valleys.
Olympic Peninsula – Whidbey Island/Oak Harbour
1 night’s accommodation at Best Western Heritage Inn
Board the Washington State Ferry again this morning from Port Townsend to Whidbey Island. Upon landing, head to Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve, one of the first of its kind in the nation or Deception Pass State Park, arguably the prettiest in the area with miles and miles of beaches, quiet coves, freshwater lakes and deep green forest. Coupeville, the ‘town of sea captains’ will also fascinate as will a trip to Captain Whidbey Inn, built in 1909 and supposedly haunted!
Whidbey Island/Oak Harbour – Friday Harbour/San Juan Island
1 night’s accommodation at Red Lion Port Angeles
After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Anacortes, the gateway to San Juan, Orcas and other islands which make up Island County in the Puget Sound of Washington State. Before heading off to San Juan, stop awhile and enjoy a whale watching cruise or join an exciting kayak excursion along some amazing sea routes. Once you’ve reached San Juan, a visit to the San Juan Island National Historical Park is a must with its American and British camps. There’s also a Whale Museum, 19-acre sculpture park and lavender farms, the latter best seen in mid-July whilst in full bloom. Friday Harbour is a lovely place to stop awhile with gift shops, art galleries and cosy seaside restaurants.
Friday Harbour/San Juan Island – Orcas Island
1 night’s accommodation at Red Lion Port Angeles
There’s more time to explore San Juan Island today or take a ferry across to Orcas Island, the largest of the San Juan islands and home to an eclectic community or artisans and small cottage industries. Mountains, wooded countryside and spectacular vistas make this a very worthwhile daytrip indeed with a hike to the top of Mount Constitution a definite highlight!
San Juan Islands - Seattle
1 night’s accommodation at Sixth Avenue Inn
Board the ferry again this morning for the return journey to Port Townsend and Seattle. You’ve another night to enjoy in the city, enjoying a delicious meal in one of the many restaurants or heading to the theatre for ballet, opera or jazz. After a good night rest, it’s time to collect your memories and board the plane for home.
