Kenya boasts an abundance of wildlife with lion, cheetah, leopard, rhino, giraffe and elephant sharing the plains with wildebeest and zebra.

The best way of getting to grips with them is by staying in a luxury campsite in the heart of your chosen national park. Small and exclusive, our featured camps in Amboseli National Park, Aberdares National Park, Samburu National Park and, of course, the Masai Mara. All are world famous for their extensive animal and bird species, combining the best safari locations with the best lodges! And, of course, you’ll be flying there! Please note, it may be necessary to overnight in Nairobi before you fly onto your chosen camp, or you may need to wait a couple of hours at Wilson Airport before catching your flight due to limited flight schedules. Just remember luggage allowance is 15kg per person in soft bags.

Aberdares National ParkAberdares National Park

The Aberdares is the third largest mountain range in Kenya reaching a summit of over 4,000m. The high-altitude forests are home to a variety of game, including elephant and buffalo as well as the rare and beautiful bongo antelope. Treetops is located in Aberdares – the waterhole there provides the perfect place to spot game coming to drink during the night.

 

Amboseli National ParkAmboseli National Park

Amboseli is set against perhaps the most impressive backdrops of all – Mount Kilimanjaro. The park is also renowned for its elephant population and herds of wildebeest, zebra and impala which graze on the open plains.

 

Lake Nakuru National ParkLake Nakuru National Park

This soda lake is home to up to a million flamingoes. The park surrounding the lake provides an important sanctuary for both black and white rhino, as well as lion and buffalo.

 

Lake Naivasha National ParkLake Naivasha National Park

The waters of the lake draw a great range of game including giraffe, buffalo, colobus monkey and a large hippo population. A boat trip on the lake is a great way to enjoy all that it has to offer.

 

Masai Mara National ReserveMasai Mara National Reserve

Kenya’s most famous wildlife sanctuary, the Masai Mara, comprises over 1,500sq km of open plains, woodlands and riverine forest. Every year it plays host to the wildebeest migration from the Serengeti between Jul and Oct. The reserve is home to the ‘Big Five’ and the game sightings here are plentiful.

 

Samburu National ReserveSamburu National Reserve

Samburu is very dry and arid and is home to several endemic northern species, including the gerenuk, a long-necked antelope, the reticulated giraffe and grevy’s zebra. Big cats can also be found here, as can elephant, hippo and crocodile.

 

Tsavo East and West National ParksTsavo East and West National Parks

Tsavo as a whole consists of 10 million acres of wilderness with herds of elephant, as well as lion, buffalo, giraffe, impala, kudu and possibly rhino. Mzima Springs in Tsavo West is a highlight, where you can view hippo from an underwater hide.

The local Masai communities set aside these areas for wildlife reserve, so the habitat could be protected and wildlife conserved.

 

Kisite Marine National Park and Mpunguti National ReserveKisite Marine National Park and Mpunguti National Reserve

Kisite and Mpunguti Marine Parks are located on the south coast and cover a marine area with four small islands surrounded by coral-reef. The surrounding waters have well developed coral gardens and a large variety of fish while the small islands within the parks offer important breeding habitats for birds and the rare coconut crabs.
