The tropical island of Langkawi lies just off the west coast
of peninsular Malaysia. It has rolling mountains, vast paddy
fields, sleepy rural villages, mysterious caves and pockets
of virgin rainforests dating back millions of years. Best of
all, it has miles and miles of white sandy beaches for you
to relax on.
In a nutshell
Visit local villages and you can also learn about rice planting, batik
painting and pottery making, and you can buy such local crafts at the
Cultural Craft Complex. On the beach you can try water sports, and a
visit to the Pulau Payar Marine Park reveals coral reefs inhabited by
wonderfully colourful tropical fish.
