New Zealand’s North Island is a land of diverse and wonderful landscapes. Auckland is New Zealand’s biggest city and a yacht or boat cruise on the harbour is essential. Or perhaps take a trip to the top of Sky Tower for head-spinning views and buy Maori crafts at Otara Market.

Destination informationDestination information

North of Auckland is subtropical Northland, where you can visit the Bay of Islands, a group of 144 islands providing an aquatic playground with myriad secluded beaches. In Rotorua, the earth is alive. Bubbling and fizzing with geothermal activity, it erupts with geysers and is covered with crater lakes and volcanic mountains. Rejuvenate yourself in mineral pools, enjoying mud wraps and massages. Visit the Pohutu geyser with its 30m-high spray, and at Tamaki Maori village, receive a traditional Maori welcome and enjoy a delicious hangi feast. The stunning Lake Taupo is situated south of Rotorua, with a breathtaking backdrop of the Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro volcanoes.
