Destination information
Often referred to as the 'spice island', exotic spices have been this island's main export over the last thousand years and the atmosphere is heady with the aroma of cardamom, cloves and more. Stone Town is for culture vultures, a maze of narrow cobbled streets lined with bazaars, mosques and museums. On the south-east coast is Baraza, one of the finest beaches in the world with a coral reef that runs the length of the coast affording spectacular snorkelling and diving. Hot all year round with shallow waters safe for swimming, this is quite simply paradise for couples and families alike.
