Set on one of the best beaches in Zanzibar, Karafuu is a lovely hotel, built in typical island style with a good standard of service and accommodation. It is one of the few hotels in the east coast of Zanzibar, where, even during low tide, it’s possible to enjoy a comfortable swim in the ocean. A path in front of the hotel leads to a permanent natural depression in the ocean, offering a natural swimming pool. All rooms have a ‘Makuti’ thatched roof and traditional furnishings as well as a good range of modern amenities, making you feel at home straightaway. If you’re an enthusiast of watery pursuits, this is a favourite dive spot with a PADI dive team catering to all levels. There are also dry land sports such as tennis, beach volleyball and aqua-gym. For dinner, the main restaurant 'Marikiti' serves sumptuous themed buffets, whilst Le Grand Bleu on the beach is renowned for fresh seafood. All 89 rooms styled in a traditional Zanzibar theme complete with independent air-conditioning, hairdryer, telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee maker, safe box, ceiling fan and mosquito net. Junior Suites are larger and sea facing. Cottage Rooms and Junior Suites have a private garden and veranda. Both rooms sleep max 3 people in 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds.
