After breakfast, drive to the garden province of Samut Songhkhram in the Mae Klong river delta area. Arrive at
Tha Kha Village, your homestay, where you will meet your host family. Tha Kha is one of the many floating markets where local people come together on set dates to sell their produce. Even if it is not market day, you will take a fascinating journey through the waterways to visit a family that makes coconut sugar syrup at their teak house. After a glass of the sweet juice, take a boat ride through the maze of canals. Stop to visit some beautiful and interesting local temples, where you will see a 400-year old banyan tree and replicas of traditional Thai boxing. Continue by boat to King Rama II Park with a group of typical Thai Houses and a 100-year old teak palace settled in the middle of a garden. In the evening, take a paddle boat trip to see fireflies that congregate around Lampo trees before returning to the homestay. The
Tha Kha Homestay Project is a community of village people who are happy to allow foreigners to stay as guests in their houses. Most of the houses are traditional Thai houses on stilts, some of which are over 100 years old. Facilities are simple but comfortable and you will sleep in multi-shared bedrooms with a mosquito net.
