The TourThe Tour

This adventure is an exciting way to get to grips with the many and varied delights the African bush has to offer. Explore your surrounds on raft and horse, and go abseiling. With both a day and night safari included, you'll see some magnificent wildlife as well, before visiting Cape Town, with the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain, or relaxing on the beach in Mauritius.

Day 1: London - Johannesburg
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Johannesburg with Virgin Atlantic.

Day 2: Hazyview
On arrival into Johannesburg, take a connecting flight to Mpumalanga where you'll be met and transferred to Hazyview and Hippo Hollow for the next 5 nights. Set on the banks of the Sabie River, the hotel has an à la carte restaurant and 2 swimming pools set in lush gardens for you to enjoy.

Day 3: Abseiling
Start your adventure with an abseiling course. You'll receive full instruction from your guide before you push back and walk down the rock face. You don't need any experience and if it's not for you, you can watch or relax at the hotel. (B)

Day 4: Kruger Game Drive
It's a full-day safari in the world-renowned Kruger National Park today. The park is home to a wide array of wildlife and habitats including the 'Big Five' - lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino. (B)

Day 5: River Canoeing
More thrills are in store for you today with a half a days canoeing on the Sabie River, through dense vegetation and small rapids. Suitable for everyone, experience the majesty of nature as you ride the river in 2-man canoes. (B)

Day 6: Horse-ride Trail and Safari
This morning, saddle up for a horse ride through indigenous bush as you experience the area in a more natural way. In the afternoon, it's off to the Kapama Private Game Reserve for an evening safari. On the way you'll visit the Endangered Species Centre, where you get as close as possible to king cheetah and wild dog. Then it's on to your safari to enjoy an exhilarating drive through the bush, looking for more incredible wildlife. At sunset, stop for drinks and enjoy the spectacle of the setting sun. Your safari continues as you look for nocturnal animals, before heading to the lodge for a traditional South African dinner. (B/D)

Days 7-11: Cape Town
After an action-packed week, it's time to head to the fabulous city of Cape Town and Protea Hotel President (page 54) for 5 nights. The city offers a choice of beautiful beaches, great shopping and the wonderful scenery provided by Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope (B). Enjoy time at leisure here or you may wish to pre-book some sightseeing.

Day 12: Cape Town - London
Alas, your holiday is over. Transfer to Cape Town airport for your overnight flight back to London Heathrow.

Mauritius Beach Extension
If you fancy a bit of rest and relaxation after all that excitement, why not extend your holiday on the beautiful island of Mauritius? Fabulous beaches and warm clear waters await you. Fly from Cape Town on day 10 with Air Mauritius, where you will spend the next 7 nights at the Merville Beach hotel. Set on a white sand beach, there will be plenty of chances to work on your tan or to enjoy the water sports on offer (B/D). On day 17, you will be transferred to the airport for your Virgin Atlantic flight back to London Heathrow.
