Tour Itinerary
Day 1: London – Sri Lanka
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Colombo with Sri Lankan Airlines.
Day 2: Colombo
On arrival, your private driver will transfer you to your hotel. You may wish to spend the day sightseeing in the city or just simply relaxing at the hotel and prepare yourself for your travels ahead. Overnight at the Hilton Colombo.
Days 3-4: Habarana
Choose your departure time this morning, and take a leisurely drive to Sigiriya, located in the cultural triangle. There may be an opportunity to stop off at Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage on the way, time depending. Your base for the next 2 nights is the unique and beautiful Vil Uyana. Your driver will recommend places of interest, but top of most peoples list is Sigiriya Rock and the Buddha carvings at Polonnaruwa. (B)
Days 5-6: Kandy
Following a leisurely breakfast you will take the scenic drive to Kandy, the former capital of Sri Lanka. Located in the Hill Country with a tranquil lake in its centre, Kandy is the site of the renowned temple that enshrines the Tooth Relic of the Buddha and the Royal Botanical gardens. Your base for the next 2 nights is The Kandy House, a lovely boutique property just outside the city with beautiful gardens and bespoke guest rooms. Your driver will be happy to suggest places to visit and you may want to experience a cultural evening dance performance. (B)
Days 7-8: Tea Trails, Hatton
As with every other day, your departure time can be determined by you. Just let your driver know what time your would like to set off and he will be waiting! Your base for the next 2 nights will be Tea Trails, a stunning property consisting of 4 separate Bungalows located by the lakeside and within the hills close to Hatton, a small town just a short drive from Nuwara Eliya. There are numerous activities on offer at Tea Trails, including walking, cycling or boating on the lake. Alternatively you may wish to take a trip to one of the local tea plantations or factories to sample the local brew! (B/L/D)
Day 9: Onward arrangements
Where you go next is up to you. You may wish to extend your stay at the beach. We recommend Reef as the perfect addition to your Classic Ceylon tour – details of this small beach front, exclusive and all-villa property can be found on the page opposite. Your driver will drop you off at Reef and leave you to relax and unwind at your leisure. You will then be transferred back to the airport at the end of your holiday. Alternatively you may wish to extend your holiday on one of the many stunning islands in The Maldives. Please call for full details, further information and prices.
If you’d prefer to do sightseeing at your own pace with your very own private driver, Classic Ceylon may be the tour for you. The itinerary below includes a private driver for the duration which gives you the flexibility to pick and choose where you want to visit and when you want to do it.
