Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Bali
You will be met at Denpasar airport and transferred to the Pertiwi Bungalows in Ubud for the next 2 nights in a Deluxe Room. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or explore. (RO)
Day 2: Ubud sightseeing
After breakfast, depart the hotel for a full day of sightseeing around Ubud. First stop is the village of Batubulan (meaning ‘moonstone’), famous for its stone carving. See the Barong Dance performance, the most known Balinese dance. The story of the fight between good (Barong) and evil (Rangda), it is a classic example of the Balinese way of acting out mythology. Continue to Celuk, the centre of exquisite silver and gold works, before visiting Mas, known for its fine woodcarvers. Then return to Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali with many fine art galleries and home to a score of local and foreign painters. Visit the Agung Rai Museum of Art, with its extensive collection of permanent works by Balinese, Indonesian and foreign artists in classic Balinese and contemporary styles. Afterwards, stroll around Ubud market before returning back to your hotel in the afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 3: Candi Dasa
After breakfast, enjoy a morning at leisure. At 12.30pm, depart for Candi Dasa, via Klungkung. Visit the Kerta Gosa (Hall of Justice) which is beautifully laid out and provides an exquisite example of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture. Continue to Kusamba, a fishing village that also engages in salt making. After a short stop here, proceed on the coastal road to visit the Goa Lawah (Bat Cave). This cave, filled with thousands of bats, is considered holy and a temple and surrounding shrines protect the entrance. Continue to Tenganan, an original Bali Aga village. The women of this village weave the famous ‘flaming’ cloth ‘kamben geringsing’, which supposedly protects the wearer from evil. Overnight at the Puri Bagus Candi Dasa, in a Superior Room. (B)
Day 4: Candi Dasa – Lovina
After breakfast, depart at 8.00am and travel north to Tirta Gangga, where a stop is made at Taman Tirta Ganggaa, an original Water Palace. The palace consists of several swimming pools and ornamental ponds which serve as a fascinating reminder of the old days of the Balinese Rajahs. Afterwards, cross the volcanic range to the northwestern part of the island. Pass through the villages of Bebandem and Selat, whilst circling around Mount Agung. Stop briefly in Putung for panoramic views over the eastern bay. Visit the temple Besakih, a complex of nearly 24 temples which house ancestral shrines. Continue to Kintamani, enjoying breathtaking views of the Crater Lake Batur before arriving in Lovina. Overnight at the Aneka Lovina, in a Cottage style room. (B)
Day 5: Lovina – Bali beach or airport
After breakfast this morning, there will be an optional early dolphin-spotting trip at 6.30am out on the Java Sea in a motorised outrigger. After leaving Lovina, stop at the hot springs of Banjur and the Buddhist Monastery and return south via the stunning Pupuan Road. Perhaps extend your stay at one of our Bali beach hotels, or transfer to Denpasar airport for your onward flight. (B)
