The Tour
A 10-night multi-centre holiday combining the key must-see destinations of South Africa, the wildlife of Kruger National Park with the spectacular beauty of Cape Town. To increase the value and experience of this wonderful journey, we've included 6 excursions for your enjoyment, giving an insight into the many landscapes and contrasts that exist in South Africa.
Day 1: London - Johannesburg
Depart London Heathrow on Virgin Atlantic's direct flight to Johannesburg.
Day 2: Johannesburg - Kruger
After a morning arrival into Johannesburg, take a connecting flight to Kruger Mpumalanga airport. Transfer to Hippo Hollow for a 5-night stay. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure, with time to relax after your long-haul flight, amongst the stunning Bushveld scenery of the Kruger area. Overnight: Hippo Hollow.
Days 3-6: Kruger
During your stay at Hippo Hollow, 3 excursions have been included so you can enjoy the full beauty of this stunning region. A full-day Panorama tour takes you to the sights along the Blyde River Canyon, including God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and Pilgrim's Rest. Enjoy a full-day safari in Kruger National Park and experience the thrill of spotting the 'Big Five' from an open vehicle. Named after its founder, Paul Kruger, the national park was the first reserve established in Africa, originally located between the Sabie and Crocodile Rivers to protect the dwindling wildlife herds hunted by the first settlers in the region. It was the start of a trend and today there are hundreds of parks and reserves dedicated to the protection of Africa's wildlife. Also included is an evening safari at Kapama Private Game Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to see some of Africa's nocturnal wildlife. You will also visit the Hoedspruit Research and Breeding Centre. The evening concludes with dinner at Kapama under the stars in their open-air boma (weather permitting). Overnight: Hippo Hollow. (B)
Day 7: Kruger - Cape Town
Transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga airport for your flight to Cape Town. On arrival, transfer to the Protea Hotel President, located in Bantry Bay, an exclusive residential stretch on Cape Town's Atlantic coastline for a 5-night stay. Bantry Bay is centrally located for easy access to entertainment venues, world-class shopping centres and restaurants. The nearby Clifton beaches offer a number of exciting activities with which to fill your days. Enjoy a sunset picnic, play frisbee and volleyball or laze in a deckchair and suntan. Overnight: Protea Hotel President. (B)
Days 8-11: Cape Town
Cape Town is one of the world's most spectacular cities, wedged between the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain. In order for you to enjoy all that this city has to offer, we have included 3 excursions. A full-day tour of the Cape Peninsula takes you through dramatic scenery to the Cape of Good Hope. We have arranged a full-day Winelands tour which enables you to visit some of South Africa's premier wine estates and allows you the opportunity to taste some of the produce. We have also included a fascinating full-day 'Walk to Freedom' tour of the local townships to learn about their history. Overnight: Protea Hotel President. (B)
Day 12: Cape Town - London
Transfer to Cape Town airport for your return Virgin Atlantic or South African Airways flight to London Heathrow. (B)
