Day 1: Melbourne - Apollo Bay (185 km - approx 2 hours)
Collect your Thrifty rental car at Melbourne city depot and hit the breathtaking Great Ocean Road, heading for Apollo Bay via pretty Torquay, beautiful Bells Beach and Kennet River, famous for its koalas. Overnight at the Comfort Inn International, Apollo Bay. Apollo Bay is a charming fishing port with magnificent beaches and a stunning rainforest in Otway National Park. (RO)
Day 2: Apollo Bay - Port Fairy (195 km - approx 2 hours 30 min)
Explore Port Campbell National Park and stunning Loch Ard Gorge before continuing to Port Fairy, where you spend 1 night at Comfort Inn Port Fairy. The seafood caught here, including abalone and crayfish, is fantastic. Wander around the 19th-century buildings and soak up the atmosphere. (RO)
Day 3: Port Fairy - Halls Gap (160km - approx 2 hours)
Drive to Halls Gap, in the heart of Grampians National Park, where you overnight at Halls Gap Colonial Motor Inn. Sandstone ranges surround Halls Gap, providing wonderful views. Explore strange rock formations, Aboriginal rock art and waterfalls. (RO)
Day 4: Halls Gap - Ballarat - Melbourne (265 km - approx 3 hours)
Depart Halls Gap and drive via Ballarat, in the centre of the Victorian Central Highlands, where you can visit the gold museum. Carry on back to Melbourne and return your Thrifty rental car at the Melbourne city or airport depot by 5.00pm.
