Tour Itinerary
Day 1: London – Colombo
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Colombo with Sri Lankan Airlines.
Day 2: Colombo
On arrival, transfer to your hotel in Colombo. The day is yours to explore the city at leisure. In the evening enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan dining experience at your hotel. Overnight at the Cinnamon Grand hotel. (D)
Day 3: Habarana/Sigiriya Rock
After breakfast you will depart for Habarana in the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle. After settling into your accommodation you will enjoy a late afternoon trek up the famous, awe inspiring Sigiriya Rock. Overnight at Chaaya Village, Habarana. (B/D)
Day 4: Hiriwaduna – Kandy
Set out Hiriwaduna for a 3-hour trek through a typical village. Experience a hive of early morning activity, wildlife and local villagers on your walk. Enjoy a local farmers hospitality; pick some fresh vegetables and join in the preparation of a simple traditional meal. Proceed to Kandy for rest of day at leisure. This evening enjoy a cultural dance performance. Overnight at Chaaya Citadel, Kandy. (B/D)
Day 5: Kitulgala – Whitewater rafting – Nuwara Eliya
Set out for Kitulgala the film location of “The Bridge on the River Kwai”. Kitulgala is a great site for many adventure-based activities and you will have great fun on a white-water rafting excursion (1½-2 hours). Proceed to Nuwara Eliya for an overnight stay at The Grand Hotel. (B/D)
Day 6: Horton Plains – Worlds End – Bandarawela
Set out for Horton Plains for a 2 to 3- hour trek leading to spectacular views at ‘World’s End’. You will pass Baker’s Falls – 7,200ft above sea level. This is a beautifully scenic area, home to Sri Lanka’s finest high grown teas. Proceed to Bandarawela. Overnight at the Bandarawela Hotel for 2 nights. (B/D)
Day 7: Bambarakanda Falls
Set out for a trek to the Bambarakanda Falls, Sri Lanka’s highest waterfall. The 6 to 7-hour trek takes you through a richly forested area to the highest point of Sri Lanka’s railway line and further into the hills through tea plantations. The descent is equally breathtaking. (B/D)
Day 8: Udawalewe National Park
After breakfast visit the Elephant Transit Home. This is an admirable initiative which is sponsored by the Born Free Trust. Baby elephants who are injured or orphaned in the wild are brought to the Transit Home where they are cared for and rehabilitated in a natural setting. Afterwards, transfer to Udawalewe National Park. Your campsite is located within the park and you will take an evening jeep safari before a barbecue dinner. Accommodation will be in 2-person, insect and waterproof tents. (B/D)
Day 9: Udawalewe National Park – Mount Lavinia
Enjoy an early morning Jeep Safari in Udawalewe National Park – this is a great time for spotting the abundant birdlife. After breakfast enjoy a little time at leisure before your drive to Mount Lavinia and an overnight stay at the famous Mount Lavinia Hotel. (B/D)
Day 10: Colombo – London
After breakfast, transfer to your chosen beach resort or to the airport for your flight back to London or onward to the Maldives. (B)
