The Safari
Combining a beautiful coastal family resort with the game reserves of Tsavo East and West provides the perfect adventure for families that want to relax, as well as the opportunity to get up close to the wildlife! Expert safari guides lead you deep into the bush on twice-daily game drives and walks, plus there's an array of cultural, sporting and family activities to tempt you - including the acclaimed Adventurer's Club for children.
Day 1: London - Mombasa
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Mombasa with Kenya Airways.
Days 2-3: Mombasa North Coast
On arrival, you will be transferred to the all-inclusive Voyager Beach Resort, overlooking the white sands of Nyali Beach and just 7km north of Mombasa - your base for the next 2 nights. Set in tropical gardens, it offers an extensive range of amenities; something in fact, to keep every member of the family happy! There are 4 restaurants catering to a variety of tastes and appetites, including Smugglers' Cove, located in a hidden coral cove and specialising in seafood and grilled meat dishes. There's also several swimming pools in which to splash about - a sports pool, beachfront relaxation pool, fun pool with Jacuzzi, waterfall and children's pool. Golf enthusiasts can head for the nearby 18-hole course or get involved with a variety of other sports. After a relaxing (or busy, depending on your preference!) couple of days, it's time to pack for safari for the next leg of your family adventure! (AI)
Day 4: Tsavo East
After an early breakfast, you will leave for Tsavo East. Perched on the top of a cliff-faced hill, Voi Safari Lodge, your accommodation for the night, overlooks Kenya's Tsavo East plains. Many animal species beat a path to the 3 waterholes sunk below the cliff; you have herds of elephant or perhaps buffalo coming to drink before giving way to others, so binoculars at the ready to spot as much wildlife as possible. Dinner is served around the campfire. (B/L/D)
Days 5-6: Tsavo West
More safari adventure today as you say goodbye to Voi Safari Lodge and make your way to Voyager Ziwani - a tranquil retreat in one of the wildest places left on earth. The camp sits on a secluded dam on the Sante River and is home to turtle, crocodile and hundreds of basking hippo. Day and night game drives, bush walks and trips to local historic sites are all on the agenda, followed by evenings spent around the campfire, dining on delicious bush cuisine and swapping tales of all you've seen and done with family and new-found friends. Days 7-10: Mombasa North Coast
After an exciting few days in the African jungle, it's back to the Voyager Beach Resort for 3 more days of fun and frolics on the beach. With so much on offer, you won't have packed everything in the first time you stayed here, so now's your chance to enjoy their myriad selection of activities and amenities to the full or simply relax in the sun, cultivating your suntan! Day 11: Nairobi
Transfer from the Voyager Beach Resort to the airport to catch your afternoon flight to Nairobi. The Sarova Stanley, a luxury hotel in the heart of Nairobi's business district, is your home for the night. Not to be missed is the nearby Masai or City Market - the largest variety of handicrafts and attractions from all over Kenya - including jewellery, sculpture and clothing. (B)
Day 12: Nairobi - London
Sadly after a fantastic time, it's time to leave for your flight home to London Heathrow with Kenya Airways.
