The Safari
This excellent 7-night safari takes you to Kenya's premier wildlife reserves, from the stunning Rift Valley Lakes to the vast plains of the Masai Mara.
Day 1: London - Nairobi
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Nairobi with Virgin Atlantic.
Day 2: Samburu
Leave Nairobi and drive north of the equator to Samburu for a 2-night stay. This lowland area is home to gerenuk, crocodile, hippo, lion, cheetah and ostrich, among other creatures. Enjoy lunch, and in the afternoon set off on a game drive, with the chance of spotting all kinds of wildlife among the woodlands, ravines and grasslands. Return to the lodge for dinner. Overnight: Samburu Lodge. (L/D)
Day 3: Samburu
Another day in the African bush, with morning and afternoon game drives looking for the animals you may have missed yesterday! Overnight: Samburu Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 4: Aberdares
After breakfast, you will be driven to the Outspan Hotel for lunch. Outspan was once home to Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, founders of the scout and girl guide movements. The remainder of the day is at leisure around your lodge, situated in the dense forest of Aberdares National Park. Overnight: Treetops. (B/L/D)
Day 5: Lake Nakuru
Set off this morning for Lake Nakuru in the Rift Valley. This beautiful area is famous for its abundance of flamingo and other waterfowl, along with buffalo, dik dik and both black and white rhino. After lunch, you have an afternoon game drive to seek out those birds and other wildlife. Overnight: Lake Nakuru Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 6: Masai Mara
Today head for the Masai Mara, one of east Africa's most famous reserves and home to the country's greatest concentration of big game. Enjoy a 2-night stay, firstly arriving for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive and dinner. Why not pre-book a balloon excursion over the Masai Mara? Prices start from £239 per person. Day 7: Masai Mara
f you have a pre-booked balloon safari, it is an early start, but what an experience! Floating above the trees watching the animals grazing on the savanna below. Alternatively enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Overnight: Keekorok Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 8: Nairobi
Alas, your adventures are over and it is time to head back to Nairobi. Overnight at the Jacaranda Hotel. (B)
Day 9: Nairobi - London
Fly back to London Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic.
Mombasa Extension
Proceed to the airport for your flight to Mombasa on day 9. On arrival, transfer to the south coast where you will be spending 7 nights at the Papillon Lagoon Reef on an all-inclusive basis. You may want to take advantage of the resort's proximity to Kisite Marine Park for a visit. On day 16, fly back to Nairobi to connect with your Virgin Atlantic flight to London Heathrow.
Zanzibar Extension
With its beautiful sandy beaches and fringing coral reefs, the beautiful island of Zanzibar, 25 miles off the Tanzanian coast, is the perfect finish to a safari. After breakfast on day 9, board your flight to Zanzibar and transfer to the Ocean Paradise Resort for 7 nights on a half-board basis. On day 16, fly back to Nairobi to connect with your flight to London Heathrow with Kenya Airways.

- Please note, if travelling on the Mombasa extension 31/03/08 - 25/10/08 you will spend a night at the Jacaranda in Nairobi on a bed and breakfast basis prior to your return, and your stay in Mombasa will be reduced to 6 nights.
