Day 1: London – Nairobi
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Nairobi with Virgin Atlantic.
Day 2: Nairobi
You will be met on arrival and transferred to the Jacaranda Hotel Nairobi for an overnight stay. For 2012 there is a pre-bookable optional excursion of lunch at the ever popular Tamambo Restaurant followed by a visit to the Giraffe Centre home to the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Overnight: Jacaranda Hotel.
Days 3-4: Amboseli National Park
Leave Nairobi for the 4-hour 15-min drive to Amboseli National Park where you’ll stay for 2 nights. With the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, this is one of the best parks in Africa to observe family groups of elephants at close quarters. Don't forget your swimming gear to relax by the pool between game drives. Each night, there is a hyena feeding encounter at Hemmingway's Bar, well worth watching! Overnight:Amboseli Sopa Lodge (B/L/D).
Days 5-6: Lakes Nakuru and Naivasha
After breakfast, head north through the Kenyan countryside towards the Rift Valley (4 hour 30 min), stopping en route at the famous Carnivore Restaurant for lunch. After lunch, continue to Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (1 hour 30 min) for your 2-night stay. During your stay you’ll visit Lake Nakuru National Park, an area famous for its vast flocks of flamingo, as well as black and white rhino. You’ll also take a 1-hour boat trip on Lake Naivasha (subject to water levels). Top tip: Take a spare memory card for your camera as you'll take more pictures than you can imagine! Overnight: Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (B/L/D).
Days 7-8: Masai Mara
After breakfast, head for the Masai Mara National Reserve (4-hour drive). Spend 2 days enjoying more wildlife adventures with morning and afternoon game drives. Why not take the opportunity to pre-book a once-in-a-lifetime balloon trip over this magnificent reserve - prices start from just £279 and include a hearty bush breakfast afterwards. Day 9: Nairobi
Return to Nairobi arriving around lunch time for your return flight to the UK or on to your beach resort. (B) (Subject to flight schedules you may need to spend a night in Nairobi)
Whilst in Nairobi, you can visit the central commercial district which is also home to the government buildings and the impressive Kenyatta Mausoleum as well as a bustling Masai market for last minute souvenirs.
