Botswana Tour Victoria Falls and Chobe (6 days) with Okavango Delta extension (9 days)

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: LHR—Johannesburg

Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Johannesburg with Virgin Atlantic.

Day 2: Livingstone

You fly into Livingstone, and are met on arrival by a representative for the transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, after settling in, you'll be whisked off to enjoy a romantic sundowner cruise on the mighty Zambezi River, one of the longest rivers in Africa. Your base for 3 nights will be the Zambezi Sun (standard) or Royal Livingstone (superior). (B)

Day 3: Livingstone

After a hearty breakfast you head off in the morning walking tour of the spectacular Victoria Falls, claimed to be the largest falls on the planet and one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Here you can learn about the flora and fauna as well as the history of David Livingstone and his discovery of the falls. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)

Day 4: Livingstone

Day at leisure to laze by the pool or do an optional activity such as the Flight of the Angels, a 15-min helicopter flight giving you the best view of the falls. There are also lots of adventurous activities you can book locally. (B)

Day 5: Livingstone/Chobe

Start your day with breakfast before heading off on the road from Victoria Falls to Chobe, Botswana. In the late afternoon you'll board an open safari vehicle for an exciting game drive through this wonderful national park. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, buffalo, antelopes and other amazing wildlife along the route. Your accommodation for the next 2 nights will be either Chobe Safari Lodge (standard) or Chobe Chilwero (superior). [B/L/D].

Day 6 Chobe

This morning you have another game drive across the Chobe National Park for a second chance to view the spectacular wildlife in the area. As the sun starts to dip in the late afternoon we're off on a sundowner cruise on the Chobe River, where you may spot hippos, water birds, puku and crocodiles. [B/L/D].

Day 7: Chobe/Depart Livingstone

This morning offers one last opportunity to participate in a game activity before heading back to Livingstone airport for your connecting flight to Johannesburg and back to London Heathrow. Or, should you choose to continue the adventure, you onward journey towards the Okavango Delta. [B/L/D].

OPTIONAL EXTENSION

Day 7 (continued): Kasane/Okavango Delta

A representative will greet you at Kasane airport, after which there is a light aircraft transfer to your camp in the Okavango Delta. Your next 3 nights will be spent at Gunn's Camp (standard) or Pom Pom (superior). [B/L/D].

Days 8-9 Okavango Delta

You have 2 full days in the Okavango Delta where you can enjoy game viewing in an open safari vehicle, or if you're feeling brave, perhaps try a guided walking tour. Your experienced guide will teach you how to track wildlife by following the tell-tale signs they leave. Maybe you'll have a close encounter with a lion or other 'big cat'. The Okavango Delta offers the chance to see elephant, lechwe, hippos and wild dogs amongst many other animals. One thing you shouldn't miss is a trip along the swampy waterways of the delta in a mokoro (a traditional dug out canoe), your guide will silently propel you along by a pole. It's a real treat. Day 10: Okavango Deta/Depart Kasane

After breakfast, you'll have a final game activity before saying your goodbyes and transferring back to either Maun or Kasane Airport for your connecting flight to Johannesburg and back to London Heathrow. (B)
