Safari
Explore the waterways and wildlife of Botswana on this 5-day safari. Your tour begins in the Okavango Delta with its plethora of crystal-clear channels, perfect for gliding along whilst admiring the views. Then it's on to Moremi National Park, bursting with wildlife. Accommodation is in luxury campsites in the heart of the reserves.
Day 1: London - Johannesburg
Fly from London Heathrow to Johannesburg with Virgin Atlantic and onwards to Maun with Air Botswana.
Day 2: Okavango Delta
On arrival at Maun international airport, you'll be met and transferred by light aircraft to your camp within the Okavango Delta. The largest delta on earth (it can be seen from space!), the Okavango is a labyrinth of lagoons, lakes and hidden channels covering an area of over 17,000sq km. Settle into your luxury campsite, before enjoying dinner under the stars. Overnight: Camp Okavango. (B/L/D)
Day 3: Okavango Delta
Enjoy a full day in the delta, gliding through the waters, perhaps in a mokoro (dug-out canoe) to spy hippo, rhino and crocodile. There's also the opportunity to join a game drive or take a walk in the bush on a guided safari tour. The delta is also famous for its myriad fish species and birdlife. Dinner once again around the campfire, before retiring to your private tent. Overnight: Camp Okavango. (B/L/D)
Day 4: Moremi
Transfer by light aircraft to your camp in the Moremi region. Moremi is rated as Africa's most beautiful wildlife sanctuary and is quite literally packed with wildlife all through the year, including elephant, zebra, lion, leopard and cheetah. Overnight: Camp Moremi. (B/L/D)
Day 5: Moremi
Your day will be spent game viewing in open safari vehicles, spotting as many wildlife species as you can. In the dry winter months, elephants can be seen in abundance at the rivers and waterholes. Also look out for the particularly beautiful sable and roan antelopes. After a fantastic day, relax back at camp over dinner. Overnight: Camp Moremi. (B/L/D)
Day 6: Johannesburg - London
Fly back to Johannesburg from Kasane to connect with your Virgin Atlantic flight back to London Heathrow.
Chobe Extension Chobe
National Park is one of Africa's finest game reserves, with a reputation for the highest concentration of elephants worldwide. In Chobe, a sunset cruise is a thrilling end to a magnificent day as hundreds of dusty elephants jostle at the river's edge to quench their thirst. Why not spend a few nights at Chobe Chilwero or Mowana Safari Lodge? Your stay includes 2 game drives per day and return transfers to Kasane within the extra night price.
Livingstone Extension
The breathtaking Victoria Falls is the world's largest, most dramatic waterfall and is alive with adrenalin-charged activities for adventure lovers. There's also a wide range of day excursions including the exciting elephant-back safaris along the Zambezi River. We suggest the Zambia Getaway (page 105) as an extension to the Waterways and Wildlife safari. This 3-night package includes a romantic sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River aboard the African Queen, a full day at Chobe National Park, and a tour of Victoria Falls.
