The Tour
This adventure offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the magnificence of Africa. Go on safari in Kruger National Park, experience the majesty of the Zambezi River with a canoe safari, a visit to the awesome Victoria Falls and an elephant-back safari. Then finish off your holiday in style in Cape Town or on the beaches of Mauritius.
Day 1: London - Johannesburg
Fly overnight with Virgin Atlantic to Johannesburg.
Day 2: Hazyview
You'll be met and given your detailed instructions for the picturesque drive to Hazyview, your base for the next 4 nights. Overnight: Hippo Hollow.
Days 3-5: Hazyview
Enjoy time at leisure, either relax by the pool or venture into Kruger National Park on safari. We have a great range of pre-bookable excursions which are available from Hippo Hollow to help you make the most of your stay. (B)
Day 6: Johannesburg
Drive back to Johannesburg for an overnight stay at the Protea Hotel Wanderers before your flight to Zambia tomorrow. (B)
Day 7: The Zambezi River
Drop your car back off at Johannesburg in time for your flight to Livingstone. On arrival, transfer to the Zambezi Sun for 3 nights. Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, the view of the 'Smoke That Thunders', otherwise known as the world-famous Victoria Falls, is fabulous. You'll have time to settle in and relax. In the afternoon, you'll take a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River in a special, propeller-free safari boat. You'll have the chance to spot white rhino, elephant and hippo along the riverbank. You'll also have time to explore the islands above the Falls on foot, before returning to the hotel for dinner. Overnight: Zambezi Sun. (B)
Day 8: Zambezi River
After breakfast, it's back to the Zambezi River for the start of your canoe safari. Paddling downstream in inflatable 2-man canoes, this is a wonderful way to experience the Zambezi River. Lunch is on one of the many islands before you get back to the canoeing. In the evening, tents are set up and you'll camp out in style on an island in the river for a night under the African stars. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks and a delicious 3-course dinner amidst some of the finest scenery that this part of the world has to offer. Overnight: tented camp. (B/L/D)
Day 9: Zambezi River
Continue your canoe adventure paddling down to Sekuti Island where you'll enjoy a revitalising brunch. Your river adventure over, it's back to the hotel to relax before more adventures. This afternoon, you'll enjoy an elephant-back safari, an unforgettable experience. Before the safari, you will have the chance to interact with the elephants. Overnight: Zambezi Sun. (B)
Day 10: Victoria Falls - Cape Town/Mauritius
Saving the best till last, today you enjoy a tour of the mighty Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Raincoats are handed out, and you'll soon learn why the Falls are called 'Smoke that Thunders' as you get close to the widest waterfall in the world. After your visit to the Falls, it is time to bid a fond farewell to the Zambezi, as you are transferred to Livingstone airport for your onward journey. (B)
Days 11-14: Cape Town or Days 11-15: Mauritius
You'll wake up this morning ready to begin the really relaxing part of your holiday. If Cape Town and the Protea Hotel President is your destination then you've got amazing scenery, fine food and wines, shopping and beaches to choose from. We have a range of pre-bookable excursions available to book during your stay in Cape Town (B). If you've chosen Mauritius you will fly overnight with Air Mauritius where your base for the next 6 nights will be the Merville Beach (see Worldwide Brochure). Lie back and soak up the sun on this idyllic island in the Indian Ocean. (B/D)
Day 15 or 17: Cape Town/Mauritius - London
After a truly memorable holiday, you'll be transferred to the airport for your return flight home. (B)
Tour Notes
- Departure tax $25 from Livingstone.
- Departs daily for the Cape Town extension and on Mon and Fri for the Mauritius extension.
- Safari in 4x4 vehicle on day 7.
- Min age limit 12 years.
- Min 2, max 8 passengers.
- Please bring waterproof jacket, torch, binoculars, and shoes/sandals that can get wet.
- A reasonable level of fitness required as some of the activities can be fairly physical.
