The Safari
Staying in small, authentic lodges, you'll get a real flavour of this magnificent land on this 6-day tour, which takes in Lake Manyara, the 'Big Five' haven of Lake Ngorongoro, and Tarangire, famous for its elephants. Your adventure ends with a 6-night stay on the white sand beaches of Mombasa or Zanzibar.
Day 1: London - Kilimanjaro
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Kilimanjaro airport via Nairobi with Kenya Airways.
Day 2: Arusha
You are met on arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, and transferred to Mount Meru Game Lodge, bordered by the Usa River and an animal sanctuary, with Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. Overnight: Mount Meru Game Lodge. (D)
Day 3: Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you drive to beautiful Lake Manyara, at the base of the Great Rift Valley, a place to see impala, buffalo, wildebeest, hippo, giraffe and the famous tree-climbing lion. After a picnic lunch, you take an afternoon game drive, then continue on to Ngorongoro, on a 500-acre organic farm just outside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you stay 2 nights. Overnight: Ngorongoro Farm House. (B/L/D)
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater
Today it's time to enter the famous Ngorongoro Crater, Africa's 'Garden of Eden' and home to the 'Big Five', including the black-maned lion. You take a short drive up to the crater rim and then down on to the crater floor for an extended game drive with picnic lunch. After a relaxing picnic lunch, you return to your accommodation with the remainder of the afternoon to relax, or to explore the grounds of this working farm and coffee plantation. An optional guided walk can be booked locally before dinner. Overnight: Ngorongoro Farm House. (B/L/D)
Day 5: Tarangire
After breakfast, you leave Ngorongoro and continue to Tarangire, where you enjoy lunch at the romantic Tarangire River Camp, a tented camp with stunning views over the Tarangire River and surrounding plains. You then take an afternoon game drive in Tarangire National Park, home to thousands of elephants, amongst other wildlife. Overnight: Tarangire River Camp. (B/L/D)
Day 6: Arusha - London
After an early breakfast, you take a short game drive in Tarangire or a guided bush walk with a Masai warrior, before returning to Arusha for your flight back to London via Nairobi with Kenya Airways. Please Note: There is a luggage restriction of 15kg per person for those choosing the Zanzibar extension.
Mombasa Extension
After breakfast on day 6, take a short game drive in Tarangirek, before returning to Arusha to catch your flight to Mombasa. Spend the next 6 nights at the Papillon Lagoon Reef on an all-inclusive basis. Whether you are looking for a base to actively explore this fascinating region, or just somewhere to unwind and find peace, the south coast has everything you could wish for. Perhaps a visit to the Kisite Marine Park close by?
Zanzibar Extension
After breakfast on day 6, take a short game drive in Tarangire before returning to Arusha to catch your flight to Zanzibar. Spend the next 6 nights at the Ocean Paradise Resort on an all-inclusive basis. Your resort is in the northeast and there is plenty for you to do - perhaps a visit to Jozani Forest or shopping in Stone Town?
