The hotel

You will instantly feel relaxed when you stay at the Bay Hotel. The hotel is chilled out and contemporary but manages to combine luxury with a relaxed, informal atmosphere, a perfect beachfront retreat. Occupying the coolest location in Cape Town, in the very heart of the trendy suburb of Camps Bay, you can sip on a sundowner whilst overlooking the white sandy beach. In addition to the spectacular view, the hotel is in the middle of the Camps Bay ‘strip’ dotted with bars and restaurants where Cape Town’s ‘in-crowd’ just must be seen. All of this and only a few minutes from the Table Mountain cableway and just 15 minutes from the V&A Waterfront and downtown. Back on site, there are four beautiful pools to lounge by and Bistro at The Bay, serves up a feast of gourmet delights. Afterwards, relax in the sophisticated elegance of Caamil’s Bar and Caamil, the best barman you will find in Cape Town.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location on the beach in Camps Bay. Rooms were spacious and very clean, with a very comfortable bed resulting in a great night’s sleep. Choice of options at breakfast were very good, and the staff were welcoming and very cheerful. We visited in early April 24, and the only downside was the extremely high winds and thunderstorms that impacted on us for a few days. We chose to visit the V&A and take a couple of bus tours on the iffy weather days, and there is a ‘hop on’ bus stop right opposite the hotel for the bus tour. Read less

This quaint hotel is tucked back from the strip and gives beautiful panoramic views of the sea and mountains. It is perfectly located, a few minutes stroll to some fantastic restaurants, coffee shops and the super market. You are also well placed to access table mountain, lion’s head and a coastal walk up to both Clifton and Hought bay. The hotel itself is beautifully kept and has a calming feel to it. The decor is simple but crisp. The Tides restaurant provides a lovely breakfast spot and sea facing views. Breakfast is wonderful, serving both continental and hot food, a selection of smoothie bowls and juices. Camille’s bar is also great for sunset drinks. The Bistro is also excellent and provides pool side snacks and lunch- we really enjoyed the loaded nachos and butternut squash salad. The rooms are excellent- the beds and pillows are some of the best we have ever experienced. There is a complimentary mini bar and if you’re celebrating an occasion, they will provide a bottle of bubbly on arrival in your room. The front of house staff are helpful, always in hand to assist us with directions and taxis. Words can’t fully explain what a great experience we had here- we spent 5 nights in total and could have happily stayed longer. Read less

Had a very enjoyable stay at the Bay Hotel, located facing the beach which is so central for restaurants and the hop off hop on bus that stops right outside hotel, which is fantastic to see all the amazing sites that Cape Town offers.
