TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
Just got back, last Friday. Extremely comfortable room and staff were great. Breakfast buffet was more than adequate and the hotel location is at the bottom end of the gap. If you are considering... Read more self catering it might be worth a visit to one of the larger supermarkets on the island to stock up as the little convenience store across the road is a bit limited. Some nice restaurants in the gap, don't miss Hals car park bar(yes it is in a car park but great outside atmosphere focussing on karaoke. You will find the locals great and friendly who only want to help. I was impressed with O2 and have been to Barbados a lot. Don't forget to walk through to Dover beach on one side and Turtle beach on the other. Room tip - get a higher floor as ground floor rooms are very near to the pool areas. Read less
A beautiful setting for a relaxing holiday for couples. Staff were incredibly helpful and responded to requests very quickly indeed . Staff were knowledgeable about restaurants in the local area and... Read more further afield and happily sorted out bookings for you . Nothing was too much trouble . Worth a mention Shantelle, Aneka , Rojjick, Malachi and Rudoph along with all of the desk and housekeeping staff . The rooms are turned around quickly each day by the maids and facilities are excellent...the air con actually does keep the place cool which often isn't true of other places . The beach, pool and sea were fabulous ! I would definitely go back . If you love rescuing turtles this is the place to be ! The surrounding area has quite a few excellent little restaurants which are unassuming but serve delicious food . The staff at the desk will keep you up to speed on what is current but most are within easy walking distance . The Oriental Chinese above the wee Steak Bar , white painted outdoor balcony with little lights and fans blowing gently on you , was a real find . It had a limited menu but the food was absolutely delicious. Locals go there for carryout ! Check out Sharkey's too. Ten minutes walk for delicious coconut shrimp . A happy holiday indeed , loved St Lawrence area and especially the people and would go back in a heartbeat . Barbados is worth a visit folks . Read less
We had visited Barbados back in 1992, so when it was time for our 30th anniversary, we decided to go back and spend several days on an island we love. Ocean Two is a lovely property with all that... Read more you would need to never leave -- gorgeous view, great beach & pool area, a great open air lobby bar area, good food, and a great rooftop pool & sitting area. The surf is a bit rough right in front of the hotel, but you can walk up or down the beach for a bit calmer water. We're both coast people, so we were comfortable in the surf (watching out for coral), but we weren't out very far nor being too active, etc. The beach and pool staff were very helpful, quick with a drink or water, and friendly. We had a one bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchenette and washer & dryer. Great for washing out your swimsuits & freshening up your clothes (which if you're in Barbados in August, you will change clothes multiple times a day). Coffee on the balcony overlooking the sea was wonderful, and the ever ubiquitous wifi, allow you to read the paper or simply check on the bus route map. The bedroom was dark and cool and quiet, with a very comfy bed. I slept so soundly, a true luxury these days. There are many restaurants within a mile walk or so, but there are a handful with in a few blocks, so if you don't want to walk far you don't have too. There's also a small bodega right across the driveway from the hotel, in case you want to pick up breakfast supplies or snack stuff. Beer and liquor too. We were there for 6 days, and the hotel had a band one night, and other miscellaneous activities in the Lobby Bar during the week. We were there during the off-season, so it was pretty quiet, but that's more our speed than frenetic activity. The band was good, and had an ex-pat following, so we visited with couples from the UK, Australia and the US. Interesting to get their perceptive on life in Barbados. We really enjoyed our trip, and if we have the chance to return to Barbados, Ocean Two would be our choice. Read less
My wife and I chose this hotel for our honeymoon. The beach and pool and rooms are nice and clean, though the beach is a bit rocky in the water, staff were friendly and mostly helpful during our... Read more stay. The surrounding area while a bit run down seemed mostly safe. The hotel is in walking distance of restaurants, Dover beach, st Lawrence Gap, also having the grocery store across the street was convenient. We had a few issues during our stay. The air conditioning in our first room on the 7th floor did not work properly, even at night the room would not get below 77, it took 4 calls and 3 maintenance visits to get another room because there was nothing they can do about the ac. We moved to a room on the 3rd floor which was cooler. We ate at the hotel restaurant 3 times, the first time my pork was dry and the 2nd time the service was extremely slow even though we were the only ones eating in the restaurant. The last day we ate at the breakfast buffet, I didn't get coffee that I ordered there was no water served to our table though multiple people came over to ask our room number for the bill. Management did apologize and gave us a small treat basket but I expected better service from the restaurant overall. Luckily there are of other places to eat in the area. Read less
From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The premises were spotless, and very comfortable. EVERY member of the staff was courteous and willing to help you out, no matter how many... Read more questions you asked. I especially commend the staff at the front desk who invariably went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and memorable. The beach was quite nice, but fairly narrow, and the surf, at least when we were there (3rd week of August 2014), quite rough. Contrary to another review, we found the restaurant's fare very good. The decor would gain considerably in having a major upgrade, as it's not commensurate to the quality of food served. Here again, the staff went out of their way to make your meal most agreable. Were we to return to the lovely island of Barbados, we would return to Ocean 2. Read less
