TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
Travelled to Barbados for a wedding and stayed at Oceans Two for a week. It was lovely. We had a 2 bedroomed suite facing the ocean and it was gorgeous. The staff were very friendly and helpful and... Read more made us feel very welcome. There could have been a few more options on the restaurant menu, but we would definitely stay here again! My wife and I had not been on a vacation for around 5 years. We decided that since we had not been on one for so long that we would splurge and go to Barbados and stay in an ocean front property. I... Read more spent a long time researching which property would fit our needs and our budget. Thanks to all the review on Trip Advisor I was able to find this place. When I made the reservations, I had asked for a high floor, as I had read it was well worth it. I had 2 problems with the hotel and I almost gave it a 4 rating instead of a 5, but they did make up for it. One problem I had was I tried to email them 2 or 3 times off their website and received no response, but they do respond to questions asked here on Trip Advisor. The other problem I had was when I arrived. I specifically asked for a high floor, the higher the better. I put it in the reservation and I emailed them twice about it, and I was put on the second floor. Out of 7 floors, this was unacceptable and I told the clerk that. He said there was nothing he could do until tomorrow. They did move us the next day up to the seventh floor, which was awesome, but I could not unpack and get comfortable until we moved so I felt I lost a day of my vacation. Out of 6 days that felt like a big loss. As I said, being on the 7th floor was awesome! My wife and I really enjoyed the view and listening to the ocean. The rooms are very nice, the bedroom is by the front door so the sitting area and kitchen are off the balcony. This means there is not a view from the bedroom but we were on the balcony most of the time anyways. Having the kitchen was wonderful and the room is decorated very nicely. The staff I dealt with were all great and very personable. It was also awesome to get service while lying on the beach in one of their very comfortable lounge chairs. The St. Lawrence Gap is in walking distance with many good restaurants, bars, and shops. It was nice to be able to walk to dinner at a different place each night and to be able to drink without having to worry about driving back to the hotel. With the exception of the first night, I would highly recommend this hotel. I would recommend that the hotel have more communication with the guests if they are unable to meet their requests. We stayed at Ocean Two for a week from March 15 after a Cruise. This was our third visit to Barbados having previously stayed at Almond Cassurina (which is now Sandals) and Turtle Beach resort. We... Read more had initially booked a double room with limited sea view and to our great surprise on arrival we were told that we had a free upgrade to a one bedroom ocean view suite on the ground floor. The suite was beautiful and fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge/freezer/ ice maker, washing machine, dryer and oven and hobb, so a fully equipped one bedroom apartment with the beauty of the patio leading straight out to the pool. Thank you so much Ocean Two, you really made our holiday special. Breakfast in the beach side restaurant was very good with lots of choice. I'm hopeless with names but a big thank you to the lovely omelete lady chef who made them beautifully. All of the staff at Ocean two are great and always have a smile for you nothing seems too much trouble. We enjoyed our days on the beach particularly when the lovely staff kept us refreshed with iced water, ice lollies and the best of all the cooling peppermint and water spray. We had dinner and two lunches at the hotel which were very nice, so no complaints about the food. We also made use of the Shuttle to Oistins this was at a reasonable charge. Should we decide to Visit Beautiful Barbados in the future we will definitely make Ocean Two our hotel of choice and would not hesitate in recommending it to friends. Just a mention also about some nice eating places in St Lawrence gap, Harlequin definitely worth a visit but make an advance reservation. Other places we ate and enjoyed the food and ambiance of the place and friendliness of the staff were the Steak House (try also their Bajan Coffees YUM) and the Barons Smokehouse. Both served good Bajan food at reasonable prices. Last but not least the Steel Drum player at the Barons Smokehouse made our evening there very enjoyable with great music and great food. Read less
Good hotel. excellent staff. We had one of the larger, ocean view rooms. Main point is that whilst you will be in the heart of Barbadian life and close to the activity on a Friday and Saturday night... Read more , this is not on the West coast where the grander hotels and golf courses are situated. Ocean 2 strives to achieve an excellent standard but it is shoe-horned into a smallish space. There is building all around. It does have a lovely beach front and pool. We had excellent service from our taxi driver, Wayne, who took us on interesting trips to the various Plantation houses we wanted to see as well as the main sights in Bridgetown and the countryside. He drives a very comfortable BMW (246) 269 9995 / (246) 232 2027. If you are thinking of visiting Barbados decide whether you want a luxury holiday (which you could take practically anywhere) on the West Coast for which you will pay a fortune, or whether you want to enjoy an experience closer to that of the people. Barbadians are friendly and encourage tourism. Their island is more affluent than the rest of the Caribbean and they have a host of interesting cultural and historical sites which should be visited if you holiday there. At no point did we ever feel unsafe. The airport is efficient and the departure process was straightforward. The duty-free section is quite extensive so you could leave present-buying until the last minute. Read less
