TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
We stayed at Ocean Two for a fortnight at the end of March beginning of April to celebrate both our 50th birthdays. We couldn’t have chosen a better place. We wanted somewhere luxurious with... Read more good service/facilities but wanted specifically to go self catering as we like eating out. O2 fulfilled this brief in spades. It is located on a beautiful beach about a 5 min walk from St Lawrence Gap which is filled with loads of bars/restaurants to suit all taste - from takeaways to lovely restaurants overlooking the sea. We had a 1 bed ocean front view room and it was very well appointed. Huge and amazingly comfortable bed. The shower was large enough to accommodate a rugby team ! Kitchen well equipped including small dishwasher, washer and tumble dryer and good quality crockery and utensils. However, it is the staff that make this very special. Everyone appears to be genuinely happy to be there and go out of their way to make your stay a special one. From the reception staff to the pool attendants and bar staff. Everyone seemed to remember our names and what room we were in from day 1. Always waving/smiling and asking if you are having a nice time. Staff served iced fruit flavoured water to your sun lounger during the day. At 11.30 on the dot every day we got ice lollies/cold towels and someone offering to spray you down with cool mint water. Happy hour is called at 12.30 by the bar staff blowing on a conch shell. Cocktails are very good. We booked a catamaran lunch cruise for my birthday with Elegance Cruises and it was absolutely amazing (will post separate review for this). Also hired a car for a couple of days and got out and about to see the island which was great fun. Ate at the Cliff and Cin Cin’s (eye wateringly expensive but gorgeous and well worth the money for the experience). Did the Oistins Fish Fry too. All these were booked through reception staff Malinda and Zina. Excellent, professional service every time. You must try a drink at Tyrone’s bar which is situated on the beach next to Barry’s Surf School. Tyrone’s rum shack opens up every day about 3 pm and lots of locals/ex pats drink there. Cool music to watch the spectacular sunsets. Thanks O2 team/staff. We had an amazing time and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this hotel. They really know their stuff. Read less
It was our first Holiday in Barbados and as always we were curious if it will be what the web & agency (Paul at Destinology, who did a great job) tell you - it was even better. Nice and very clean... Read more Hotel in general with an amazing roof terrace and pool which a lot of times you basically have for yourself. The 1 bed apartment facing the Ocean was great - clean with a large bedroom, very spacious bathroom w double sink, big living area with sofa bed, kitchen area w micro, stove, fridge/freezer and everything you need, large balcony, great AC's for bed and living area. Maids cleaned daily and did a good job (always fresh towels ect). We had the breakfast plan and the buffet was nice, with a good selection of everything and omlette/eggs "your choice" station. There is also a small grocery store only 2 min away where you can get anything you need. The Hotel has 2 ocean front pools, one with a swim up bar and the beach about 10 steps away. The Ocean is very nice & clean, also a bit on the wavy side (to much for little kids I would say but good enough for surfing) but after visiting the much more quiet & calm west coast we definetly prefer the wavy south coast/St. Lawrence Gap area. When we arrived in our room the Hotel had a bottle of wine wrapped up which was a nice surprise, as it was my wife's Birthday. Now something very importent, which lots of places lack off - good staff. No negative experience but lots of great, friendly & helpful people - The pool bar with Shanelle & Orlando (who makes a great Margeritha with Patron), Michael at the beach (thank's again for the AloeV), Malinda and the whole reception team, especially Zina, who never got tired no matter how many times I bothered her :) Thank's again for sorting the cake and everything else - we had a great time. The only room for improvement that I like to suggest is in the breakfast/dining area. A seperation at the dirty dishes corner/alleyway, maybe shift the fruit corner as during breakfast the sun will hit it right away and just a bit more attentive staff in the morning would make it even better. Keep up the good work. Read less
We spent 10 nights at Ocean Two with our children aged 5 and 2. We chose the hotel mainly based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. So here is my opinion of the good and the bad. On the whole we had a... Read more fabulous time and we feel very lucky to have stayed here and would recommend but we had some niggles. The hotel is really well situated for The Gap. There is no doubt that the rooms are lovely and very comfortable. We had a one bed suite and They are really well appointed, quiet, great air con and we were on the sixth floor and the view was stunning. The service at the restaurant is pretty shocking, and definitely the hotels major weak spot. It is badly managed and inconsistent. It is a shame because the food is better than expected. We had several conversations with Luke the restaurant manager but he is part of the problem, he would ask if we needed anything and then it failed to materialise. The service was bad whether the restaurant was busy or not. The hotel is losing out on money as staff barely asked if we wanted another drink, my husband had to go to the bar himself three times in one meal and there were only four other diners! It is such a shame, sort it out O2. Most guests were complaining but nothing seems to happen. Top tip - Order lunch from your sunlounger and then head to your table when it is ready as food takes a really long time. The lovely Shantelle will sort this for you, she's fab. The hotel BBQ is not great, overpriced and lacks atmosphere. It advertises a steel band but there is one guy on keyboard and one drum. We were expecting a party atmosphere. The lowdown for Toddlers The hotel is very clean and well Kept but lacks facilities for young children. There aren't any baby changing facilities, could really use one in the loo by the pool. The beach is rough, the west coast is much better for young ones but saying that the break water makes a great place for crabbing! my kids were happy to play in the shallows. There isn't a shallow end of the pool which means that a little one can't splash without floats/being held but it did mean my little ones got really confident in the water! The bigger of the pools is shaded for most of the morning so is great for kids . You do not need to take buckets, spades etc as the hotel has a great supply of beach toys. We were told on email that there was a kid programme of activities but this failed to materialise with no explanation. There is a managers cocktail party but you are not welcome with children as it is on the roof terrace. I absolutely understand the necessity for an adult only area but all Manager receptions there exclude parents and children. Couldn't the manager have one a week in the main bar? Also my kids adore sushi but it was only available on the roof terrace twice a week. Why not make it available for all? Sunloungers by the pool are hard to get if you arrive after 8am. However there were always some available after lunch and there are more than enough on the lovely beach. However the hotel policy is slightly crazy! If you leave your bed for more than 30 mins, they can move your stuff off for other guests. I totally understand the need for a policy because some selfish people keep them and don't use them but that includes if you go for lunch!!! It would be a miracle to eat in the restaurant in under 30 mins!! So my conclusion is that is a lovely, friendly hotel but avoid the restaurant and prepare to be left out a little if you have young kids. Read less
We have been to barbados for the last 4 years. We can honestly say this is by far the best place we have stayed. It's home from home with regards to the accomodation, it has everything you need right... Read more down to clean t towels and dish cloths daily. The bathroom was huge, you can fit 8 in the shower! It has full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body cream. All the staff are really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Special mention to Roxanne, Marlon, Neil, THANKS!!. We where very impressed with the service on the beach (all the lads, sorry can't remember all your names!), loved the spray to cool you down in the afternoon☺. The Gap was a stroll along the road, which took about 10 minutes. Some restaurants and bars. We will definitely be returning next year with our friends. Thanks Ocean Two for making us Welcome!
