TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
My husband and I went to Barbados on 25 November for our honeymoon and stayed in Ocean Two for 10 nights. We had an absolutely amazing time. We stayed in a 1-bed apartment with an ocean facing... Read more balcony and the apartment was fantastic. The apartment was very spacious, it had absolutely everything you would need to be self-sufficient (although we did stay all inclusive), it was always kept very clean (and this extends to the rest of the hotel too), it was decorated beautifully, the bathroom with its walk in shower is great and we had a perfect view of the beautiful beach from our balcony, it was exactly what we wanted. We were really glad we had paid the extra to have the ocean view, it was 100% worth it. We stayed all inclusive and thought the food was incredible. The breakfast, lunch and dinner menus were good and all of the food we had was always delicious. Breakfast is a buffet and varies often enough to keep things interesting, there is plenty of choice on the lunch menu, and the options for dinner were varied and always really good. The hotel also has a lot of things going on which you can join in with if you want to, there was a jazz band playing one night who were absolutely brilliant, a steel pan band another night, a singer, and there are also various cocktail evenings and events. There was also a BBQ one night for dinner, where you picked what meat you wanted and it was cooked just how you asked, and a Bajan Buffet another night which was also delicious. The beach that the hotel backs on to is not huge, but it is beautiful and so nice to be so close to the beach and to be able to go in the sea to cool off. There are also various water sports that you can take part in with the hotel. The staff were all lovely, from when we arrived and were greeted with fresh juice and cold towels, to when we left, the service was excellent. All the staff were really friendly, especially Kelly and Paige who were brilliant. Barbados is an amazing country and a brilliant place to go on holiday, we did various trips including a jeep safari tour of the island, a catamaran cruise with Tiami and a submarine tour with Atlantis. I would recommend all of these, especially the jeep tour and catamaran cruise where we got to snorkel with turtles. Ocean Two was fantastic and made our honeymoon absolutely perfect. Thank you Ocean Two! Read less
So it took me awhile to write this review. We went in October this year and his was our 7th visit to barbados as a family. We have satayed in various places but decided to give O2 a try. The Hotel it... Read more self was disappointing to look at from the outside and was not well sign posted but ok we did turn up on a rainy day. The great surprise was the 2 bed ocean suite which was really very spacious and perfect for a family of four with 2 teenagers. 2 large kingsize bedrooms with very modern furniture it oozed quality. In additon to that tow large ensuites and then a lounge/diner/kitchen which was ample. The only complaint on size was really just that there was only one comfy sofa and two very uncomfy single chairs so for a fmaily only tow of us were able to sit in the lounger comfortably. On our first night we were very tired and decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, the menu looked ok varied enough. We all ordered steak and chips but I was shock at the cost considering the presentation and quality of the actual meals. I believe it came to around £150 for 4x steak and chips. It then made sense why the restaurant was so empty and to be honest you could only get around 4-5 tables inside the rest were outside under a tarpaulin type gazebo. The same can be said if the quench bar £4 for a glass of coke which really annoyed me when it was full of ice and right in front of us one bottle was poured into two glasses sorry stretche by using all that ice. I resent paying £8 for what was essentially a 500ml bottle of coke! Again there weren't many people who used the pool bar probably for that reason. The pool itself was very nice and certainly clean and well maintained. It was a little disappointing to find it was made up of several separate pools in a wavy line rather than one long one which you could actually swim laps in. There were several kids who decided to make use of this and divebomb in from one to another which I don't have a problem with per se but when the pool is small it doesn't make for a nice experience. My own ids were disappointed with the pool. That said the sunloungers were fantastic , very comfy and very wide almost like sitting on a real bed. The service by the pool was good with misting spray and cold towels on one occasion. This hotel has most of the things required to make it fantastic but it lets itself down a little withhigh prices on food and drink when they are at best mediocre. I would also say that whilst we were there they decided at 11am to demolish one of the showers by the pool with a jackhammer, we had to leave because of the noise. I appreciate maintenance has to be done and we did go out of season but would it not have been netter to do this at 5 or 6pm when the pool area was empty than at back time for sunbathers at 11 am when it was full of people. That day we had to pack up and leave the hotel. I should also mention there is a little hut just along the beach where you can hire boogies boards etc, we didn't do this as my kids were not fans of the sea. also remember this hotel is on the south coast atlantic so the sea is rough not pond like the carribean side - just worthy of note if you were expecting caribean sea. Loves: The rooms, large, clean well equipped Dislikes: Noise interruption planes flying over close and jackhammer by the pool Restaurant and Bar prices - rip off Make sureyou try Bliss cafe down the road a short walk they do breakfast. Its run by a guy who left london to set up with his wife, it was a fairly fledgling buisiness when we went but they were very welcoming and did a great fry up. I have to say this last visit to Barbados disappointed in more ways than one - many of thegood restaurants have closed or are under refurbishment and it felt as if it had really beenhit by the recession. Even the TGI Fridays in Hastings had shut down. Pisces was undergoing refurbshment - looked like a storm had hit it but apparently it had been like that for 6 months so dont hold your breath it will be done in another 6 months. This year we tried to go to the Graeme hall sanctuary - Again closed due to some dispute with the government over taxes. Our reliable favourties at Accra beach didn't let us down. Chilly moos for home made milkshakes and icecreams, Picassos, brilliant breakfast and pancakes, - and not forgetting Just Grillin - Shrimp platter still excellent. ALl of these places are gerat for familyes to eat and drink as won't break the bank. Higher end great for dinners try Tides, CIN CIN, Beaches, Lone Star( shut when we went this time) Limegrove lifestyle centre for your designer fetishes. Overall a good trip but I felt that Barbados had lost its gloss this year - maybe it was because it was out of season, but we've been this time before - Something had changed I could not tell what it was. O2 was a nice hotel if you are prepared for some of the things I mentioned. I would probably go back but only if price was right and being for armed with the knowledge of what could happen and what the pool was like. Read less

Read more I just got back from our 6 night stay at Oceans 2 and I am so disappointed....that we had to leave!! You will be floored by the rooms- luxurious, modern, immaculate and huge... We had a one bedroom suite and it was amazing! The outdoor space is luxurious as well...the pool maybe small, but its perfect, complete with a swim up bar, restaurant, and great beach. The water is spectacular and, although a bit wavy, it's warm, clean and shallow. We spent most of our time laying out and although the hotel seems like it would be crowded, we never had trouble getting a plush lounge chair- the chairs are amazing by the way! The only 2 minor issues were the elevators are a bit slow and although you are within walking distance of the St. Lawrence gap which has a bunch of restaurants and nightlife, you are far from some of the high-end restaurants of the west coast which equates to a lot of money to spend on taxis. The staff was super friendly and nice and always strived to accommodate you...especially our favorite Katie who was a fellow New Englander and went out of her way to help us and make our trip exceptional...thank you Katie!! Restaurants we suggest...The Cliffs, cafe Luna?( In little arches hotel), heard Cin Cin is great but couldn't get in, didn't like Tides or Bellinis too much. Read less
