TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
We had a 5 th floor one bedroom ocean view apartment as we were happy to do some self catering. The two biggest assets of this Hotel is its location and it's brilliant staff . Everyone was great and... Read more one of the beach staff , Michael , was superb. Beach was lovely but the sea was pretty rough when we were there , not for the faint hearted. We had some evening meals in the Hotel , very good but slightly more expensive than most nearby Restaurants . Lots of space in the apartment and on the balcony but no sun beds on the balcony , a major omission we think. If you plan to go to the south of Barbados Ocean 2 will be hard to beat. Read less
My family of 5 had a great time at this hotel. We stayed on the 7th floor in a Penthouse 2 bedroom. It had a beautiful view and big baloney. We have teenagers so the location and water conditions... Read more were perfect for us. Yes, the water is rough, but perfect for boogie boarding and surfing. ( you can rent a board next door at Barry's for $20us) We also walked into the Gap for dinner. Harlequin, is good. sharkeys, good, but slow service. One pleasant surprise was Rude Boyz. It is on top of the Dover market. Go, the food is great as well as the service. I never had a problem getting a sun bed. The staff was helpful in finding chairs and umbrellas. Keep in mind this isn't a full service hotel. No one is taking drink orders on the beach. Easy to walk up to the pool area though. The nights inside the hotel are quiet. You will have to walk in to the Gap for crowds. We all felt very safe. Bliss cafe for breakfast is good across the street. Overall a pleasant trip, a lot of nice memories. One extra tip is to pack dry snacks in your suitcase. Granola bars, cereal, pretzels, crackers etc. my kids eat constantly and it saved some extra cash. The market across the street while efficient is pricey. $7us for a bag of chips. Our kitchen was fully equipped so easy to make something. Enjoy! Read less
We spent one beautiful week recently at this resort. We were lucky to get an ocean side unit overlooking the pool and beach with a great view including sunset. The unit was clean, efficient and... Read more comfortable. Grocery store literally across the street. Shops and restaurants plentiful and all within a very short walk. The beach on the resort was the only less than perfect amenity due to it being a little rough and a quick drop on a partially rocky base. We had no problem with this as it was great for refreshing dips and on both sides of the resort were beautiful all sandy beaches. One side was Dover Beach with beachside restaurants and lounge chair rentals while the other side was equally nice beaches with only resort restaurants and private lounge chairs etc and much quieter. Although there was Wi-Fi available everywhere at the resort it could be a little slow at times just in case any work has to be done while away. For email etc, not a problem The staff was very accommodating and friendly at all times and we can't wait to go back Ingrid and Jeff Read less
The first thing the got our attention was the staff. By email they have booked restaurants, rented a car and gave lot of tips, always in a friendly way. Personally was no different, especially at the... Read more front desk, always very helpful and smiling, and that goes for all of them, but a special mention to Zina and Shaquille. The location is perfect. The beach is public but feels like private, never busy, basically only with guests from O2 and a few people from the surrounding. The water is nice but can be dangerous, and the sunset is amazing! In two minutes walking by a small passage you get to Maxwell Beach on one side, and in five minutes you get to Dover Beach on the other. And all the best beaches are on the south or southeast side, except for Bathsheba, located a little far from Dover. There is a good market very near, and lot of really nice restaurants and cafes at St. Lawrance Gap, max 15 minutes walking. Our breakfast was not included, and it was expensive, so we had it everyday at Bliss Cafe, just 5 minutes from the hotel and with some great food. In the surroundings, during the night some people may offer you drugs, but a nice "No, thank you" ends the approach. The room is a full well equipped apartment, very spacious, tiled floor, really nice bed, great shower with giant box, two 42 TVs, full kitchen with everything you can imagine. The balcony is great, with table, chairs and chaise longue. Our room was on the ground floor and three feet from the pool. Wi-fi was a little slow sometimes. O2 is excellent in every way, we definitely recommend it and would certainly return!! Read less
