TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Blau Varadero for four nights as part of a three week holiday. Although the building isnt the prettiest from the outside inside it is very impressive and the back of... Read more the building is stunning with lovely swimming pools, gardens and a nice walkway to the beach. I never stayed in an all inclusive before and yes we did eat alot more than ususal!! But the food all looked so good and there was endless choice. I think breakfast was my favorite with fresh smoothies, tasty omlettes, pancakes etc. There was a great selection at lunch and dinner too and we ate at the Mexican restaurant for one night which was a nice treat. There are lots of activites organised if you were interested but we mainly hung out at the pool or the beach. We did swimming with the dolphins one of the days. Just be aware there are two trips you can do. My sister had done the nice dolphinarium which is just up the road and in a nice cove but we somehow managed to book a different one where you get picked up by bus, then onto a speed boat, are taken about 30 minutes out in the middle of the sea with no choice but to jump in. There was a type of big enclosure around the dolphins and it was nice to see them in their natural environment but the water was cold!!! The beach at the back of the hotel was beautiful, exactly how you imagine the Carribean sea to be. We got the bus into Varadero one day but there isnt much in it other than markets that all sell the same things. We also went to the Beatles bar in Varadero for the band. They were a good band but they did like their heavy rock every so often! Overall the resort was excellent. Our room was up two flights of stairs so we didnt bother with the lifts. The rooms were spacious, perhaps a bit outdated. Overall staff were helpful and the resort is run very well. Read less
The food, the service, the entertainment, the location, so everything was more than I ever dreamed of. Staff is very friendly, the pool and the beach are fantastic. Everything is very clean and... Read more tidy. Only area to improve is the elevators as they are very slow, however climbing the steps seamed a good exercise every now and then. Try out the Musical quiz every night from 8:30 you can win a bottle of cuban rum ;) They have "Show time" every evening with dance lessons incorporated. I can't wait to go back next year :) Read less
Stayed here for a week in mid November. The first impression was a stunning Hotel, very nice entrance, and friendly staff, Champagne was on offer when waiting to check in. Our room was on the... Read more second floor, so we didn't have to use the lifts much (just on arrival and departure), but we never had a problem with them. Room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was very large, one point though is take your own hairdryer, the one which is provided isn't of any use. Television has limited channels, but if you like your football then you are on luck as there is always a match on. It was a let down that our balcony was dirty, with the table and chairs needing to be thrown out. We seemed to be getting rubbish (cans and cigarettes) from the room above onto our balcony which didn't make it nice. Lobby Bar does get busy, but the staff are always quick to take your order. Selection of drinks available was good, but don't bother with the Champagne its like drinking vinegar. Piano Bar is lovely, you have to get there early as the tables fill up quick. The food...I have read so many reviews to say how nice the food is, but I was sadly disappointed. I appreciate that we are in Cuba, but I am glad I was only there for a week as the selection was something to be questioned. Breakfast had some very odd choices (burgers and mash potato??). The a la cart restaurant however did not disappoint, excellent service and food. The burgers and hot dogs at lunch were fine, it was better than going to the restaurant as it was queues galore, with birds flying around. Pool are was beautiful, but if you want to get the good sun beds, then set you alarm clocks for 7am!! It was disappointing to see groups putting the towels out, then not seeing them for a few hours... We never had a problem getting sun loungers, but there aren't too many which are south facing. The pool was always well maintained, you could spend hours there. Beach has to be the best beach I've seen, you can walk for miles and there is always a sun lounger available. Read less
Tanya M. I cannot comment one way or another about your experience at this hotel, as it was your experience and not for me to say that you have never been there. However, as long standing patron who...
