I booked my second trip to couples Negril for 2 weeks in march 2024. I used the couples Resort website to book the reservations mainly because they say hassle free cancelations. I purchased the travel insurance through them as well. I unfortunately had an accident which required surgery and was not able to travel so I canceled the reservation 17 days before our travel date. They issued a refund for the resort fees and told me I have a credit for the airfare so the hassle free full refund is a lie. I also had to forfeit the cost of the travel insurance even though the resorts website says free cancelations up to 14 days before travel. I am currently on my third day of trying to use my flight credits to book a flight. I am forced to use their third party travel agency to use my credits. I have called Couples resorts 3 times and their travel agency Adelman travel at least 6 times as well as numerous emails and I still can't get the use of my flight credits. My previous stay was very enjoyable but after this hassle with nobody doing anything to honor their own stated policy I will never return to a couples resort in the future. This is just a warning to anyone considering booking direct through the resort because their advertised policies are just smoke and mirrors Read less

Couples Negril where shall I start, let us begin with the so called Couples lounge located at Montego Bay arrivals, we both are not beer drinkers therefore we asked for a rum punch we was basically told that we only have Red Stripe on tap but if we ask a certain member and look after them by way of providing a tip then this request would be available. The journey from the airport was horrendous in fact so bad on the return we arranged a private flight. On arrival at the hotel the reception seemed nice a bit dull and lacked atmosphere. We then received our welcome pack and taken to our suite. The suite looked satisfactory until we ran the bath tap and both bathroom sinks, bath and shower to discover that dark brown stained water was coming out of the supply, we ran the water for around 20 minutes to see if any change took place and had to use the bathroom glass provided to test the water, the colour was very cloudy looking when we left the room to inform the reception of the issue, maintenance were due to look at the problem that evening nobody ever arrived. By the morning the issue was somehow resolved but returned again within a few days, again I contacted reception on the third phone call to them finally they sent a man with a racket in his back pocket to fiddle around with the taps and tell me that this shade of water is normal please see pic attached I really don't think anyone considers this normal. Water of this kind is a red flag and contains serious health concern. In room dining experience appalling let's say the option of the so called Club Sandwich was not available so we resorted to the cheeseburger can only be described as cardboard in a bun and tasteless. We were under the impression that the alcohol that was included were PREMIUM brands not the case, the rum punch for example is premixed and stored in a plastic bottle and way too sweet and far too strong, the drink quality is very poor and very difficult to enjoy. Fizzy drinks available were all the pumps which did not taste anything like coke. Food quality was unacceptable and should never be served to guests at a so called 5 star resort, the choice was limited and tasteless and without a doubt made me unwell with an upset stomach. All restaurants are labelled with the same poor choice and quality with very limited variety, to add insult to injury the so called lobster Friday should of been named Iceland Friday the lobsters were proven to be frozen by the rubbery texture of meat. The hotel grounds and gardens are kept nice, the hotel could do with an update little old and worn in places, The beach was beautiful I would say thats what sells the hotel. The floats on the sun-beds are a great idea but could do with replacing some are torn and dirty looking. The entertainment was average, the piano bar was very tacky and smelt of damp and the windows were filthy. I also found that we were tipping everyone surely spending £6000 should have been sufficient. We could go on and on, At present we are in touch with our tour operator regarding the disappointment we have experienced, we both feel like we have not had a holiday and feel that the money we spent to stay at Couples Negril was far to expensive for what was received. Absolutely shocking and not acceptable. Read less

The room was spacious and well appointed. The resort includes a bunch of activities. We did the sunset cruise with the swim in the cave and it was a lot of fun. We would recommend this to any couple looking for a relaxing vacation. Read less

This was our Go-To until we discovered San Souci. It's an amazing resort and the Beach Cannot Be Beat! We really loved everything about it. Just fell in love with San Souci and it's facilities and staff even more. But can't say enough good things about Couples Negril.

The 1 and 1/2 hour bus ride was brutal. There were a lot of pot holes which couldn't be helped but they drive fast and unsafe. The 1 and 1/2 hour bus ride was brutal. There were a lot of pot holes which couldn't be helped but they drive fast and unsafe. Our driver was on the safer side but made sexist jokes and never was quiet. While the information on the island was interesting, the jokes could have been toned down. The room view was not as promised and the noisy street made it hard to sleep. I wish we hadn't paid for an ocean view. The luggage valet told us it was 100% full but we later learned that they were at 69%. They could only move us to a room that was just as bad. First night there was a bloody towel hung on the shower rail and a broken hairdryer. The food was hit or miss. Some of the food was very well executed, others not at all. The biggest problem was that quite often, the servers stood around talking while the food sat under a heat lamp for fifteen minutes getting cold and soggy. The same menu item was cooked differently each time. The buffets had a lot to offer but it was all just typical all inclusive buffet food. Some days the cheeseburgers and jerk chicken were very good and other days, not. While you could get ice cream all day/night, the restaurants had short hours and not a lot offered. There was no breakfast by menu (only buffet). It would have been nice to have food other than a slice of pizza that you could just grab and go. The specialty reservation restaurant had great service and delicious food. The coffee shop didn't open until 7 and the continental breakfast was toast/bagels/english muffins with no butter, cream cheese or jelly until the restaurant opened at 7:30. You could get a cup of coffee before 7 if you were lucky to have a day where they had to go cups. (Some days they were out and said, "just go to the coffee shop when they open.") The drinks were fine but the only beer was Red Stripe and the wine was cheap wine. The upgraded Grey Goose and Heineken in the piano bar was "out" most of the time and not available. My husband is extremely friendly but the only employees who stood out as being very friendly were Michael at the pool and the male bartender with a seven year old. Some employees asked for shout outs but when it came to filling water, coffee, and good service, weren't really deserving of extra shout outs. The bar didn't open until 10 am and when I asked for water the female bartender said, "no, we aren't open." The sheets and towels were very poor quality. One night I asked for new sheets because they had visible bumps and were thread bare. I was in bed by the time they finally came to replace them. I said it was okay to do it the next day, but the housekeeper insisted. The pillows were comfortable. They said tips aren't accepted but more than one employee complained about not getting tips and pretty much asked for a tip. The beer in the mini bar was inconsistent. Some were old and flat and had to be dumped. It was nice to have a bottle of wine in the room even though it wasn't a good bottle of wine. There were no snacks in the mini bar or room. I brought bug spray and used deep woods off each night and still got bug bites that have lasted two weeks. My husband didn't get bit at all. Other guests said the same thing about the bugs. What we really enjoyed was the beautiful clean beach and the pool/ocean floats. The resort is easy to get around and you don't have to fight for space at the pool or beach. It's pretty quiet and super relaxing. We enjoyed the repeat guest dinner and the bon fire complete with a great guitar player. The beach has beautiful sand, warm water, most days was calm enough to just float without a care in the world. The Jamaicans on the beach were friendly and not pushy at all. They would ask once and then just say hello and give a fist bump as they passed by. We went on the Catamaran twice and really enjoyed it both times. The workers on the boat could accept tips and they were worth every tip they got! The snorkeling boat was also fun and they were friendly and helpful. The ride back to the airport was better than the ride to the hotel. They had a coach bus but they made us go so early that we had to wait to get checked in to the airline. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation. The cons didn't outweigh the pros of beautiful Jamaica but are a bit hard to swallow at the thousands of dollars spent. Read less
