TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
Our flights were canceled due to winter conditions in the states so no flights. We had to leave the resort we were at because they were full and this place was recommended. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! I will... Read more sleep at the airport next time. We (4 adults 2 kids) were not at this resort 10minutes and were told that we could not place a glass(that was given to us when we checked in with a "refreshing" drink) on the table that we needed to hold on to it or if we were finished take it up to the bar. Could not get into our room so were sent to a "changing" room so could put on swim suits to enjoy the pool. They have a nice lazy river BUT our kids ages 4 & 8 were told NO splashing or jumping seriously this is a POOL!!! and the only pool for kids. The adults could not enjoy a drink while standing in the water, and no personal flotation devices. Food was absolutely horrid. We stayed 1 night, we were waiting for our airport transfer and our youngest (4yrs old) was quietly laying on the couch in the lobby and the manger came up to her and told her to get her feet off the couch. REALLY!! This place is more of a resort for the "older" crowd not for families!!! Also No beach chairs allowed in the water to relax .Beach was terrible and needed a lot of attention. There are ALOT OF NO'S at this place.. STAY AWAY!!!! Read less
It is on the other side of the airport from the hip strip and far away from everything and you are stuck staying there unless you want to spend 60 US dollars round trip to go to the Hip... Read more Strip. Otherwise it's the usual holiday inn quality, except its the only one that is all inclusive in the world. They largely serve all kinds of processed food catering to the unhealthy north american palette though the country is so abundant in natural food. The beach they are on is certainly nice and calm for swimming. Read less
We just came back from two weeks at Sunspree. We had a great time! The people were all so friendly and helpful. Everyone on the staff was wonderful! We found the food to be good. There was lots... Read more of variety at the buffett and the omelettes were fantastic. We loved the Italian restaurant! Try the steak; it was fantastic. The seafood menu all seemed to be quite spicy for our taste. The Jamaican (The Terrace) had several items that were not too spicy. Make sure you ask your server if you don't like spicy hot food. They will help you choose. The food at the jerk hut was great, we just did not use the hot sauce. They had ice cream and nachos at the "kids" food hut. We did not pay for any upgrades so I can't comment on those. The rooms were clean and we asked for a quiet location based on previous reviews. We did have issues with getting hot water, but they were working on that when we left. BUT the stage is in a bad location so that all the common areas, bars, lounges, seating areas, and most restaurants are very noisy!! They need to have a quiet lounge area that allows for conversation, card games and drinks without all the noise. The upstairs bar was the quietest but it had two tvs, a radio and the entertainment noise coming in thru the windows. I think the music was more for the entertainment of the staff than the guests. Most guests were either seniors or families with young children. That was my only real complaint about the resort. The beach was shallow in many places and had lots of weeds, but you could still swim and enjoy in lots of areas. We did alot of snorkelling. There were lots of fish to see around the docks where they anchor the motor boats and around all the rocks. They had lots of shade umbrellas on the beach and we just got up early and picked one to use for the day. They had VERY good aquasize classes almost every day! The instructor really knew his stuff. He had fanatastic knowledge of body function and exercise routines. Bingo was fun but kinda hokey. The caller just picked numbers; they did not have a proper set of bingo balls. So if you were lucky enough to have a card with numbers the caller used you were good, if not you were not going to win much. Each caller had obvious number preferences, lol. Watch for their patterns and pick your card carefully. The paddle boats were in poor repair so make sure you get one that works. The catamaran sail was fun but very short! We checked out the shopping at the west end of the beach, and across the road. They were a little pushy, but all very friendly. We did not feel threatened. You do have to be prepared to barter as in most southern destinations. The shop in the hotel had insanely expensive prices. Make sure you take enough essentials like sun screeen or you will pay through the nose. A dress in the shop was $65.00 US across the street you could buy just as nice or better ones for $15 -$25 if you were willing to barter. Read less
