TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
Just returned from a thirteen night stay at this hotel and had a good time. the hotel though a little dated is clean and tidy, lots of staff around, nearly always three on the front desk, as well as... Read more staff in the shop, restaurant and bar area. The people we spoke to on the trip desk were helpful and friendly although we would recommend walking to universal studios and getting a taxi back when you are tired the yellow Mears taxis are a little cheaper than the ones recommended by the hotel. Our room was clean, tidy and comfortable with clean towels each day and beds made. We had only one complaint which was dealt with by the management quickly and efficiently as when we returned to our room one afternoon it was obvious that someone had been through the drawers and wardrobe as all of them were left open. We called the reception and said we needed a manager to our room and he arrived within minutes. He then reassured us that he would deal with this and could find out who had been in our room during our absence, I later discovered that a bottle of perfume was missing and so contacted him again. The next day the head of security met with us and we were fully reimbursed for our loss and told that they had fired the person who although never admitted this was to blame for the incident. All this aside we would not hesitate to stay here again. Read less
Our stay here got off to a shakey start as we arrived late due to flight delay to find the hotel had given our room away, it took over an hour to find us another room, it was 2am in the morning and... Read more myself and 2 children just wanted to jump into our beds, the following day this was all forgotton when we opened our curtains to see that we were right in the middle of all the action, hotel lived upto all the good reviews on here, all the staff were fantastic, never saw a grumpy face all week, have to say a big HI to Clara who works the little shop, who always had time to take an interest on how our holiday was going, we had a fantastic holiday and i would be happy to stay here again. This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. Having stayed previously to see if it were possible to have a less expensive holiday and one without having the stress of driving. We decided to stay at the same... Read more place again as the value for money this hotel gives you and the location is excellent. It is best located for Universal Parks, Wet and Wild, SeaWorld, Aquatica and Bush Gardens tours. You can use the I- Trolley and Lynx bus systems to get to the Disney Parks The hotel room was refurbished with a King sized bed and had new furniture, a large television, microwave, fridge, coffee machine, an electronic safe and a huge wardrobe with double bi-folding doors. A new air-conditioning machine. The room was spotlessly clean. All of this is free, no extra charges for the fridge or safe.(air- condition is noisy whether it is old or new, we have experienced both!) The décor is in tan colours, which does give a darker feel, but never-the-less a lovely comfortable room. Bed so comfy. The cleaners did a good job everyday and the towels and toiletries changed daily. Poolside towels are also free!!! no deposits, you can use as many as you wish. I have read previous comments that they are a bit smaller and thin. Yes they are but, they are clean, free and refreshed daily and you are not limited. The pool area is cleaned daily and also spotless. The only comment I can make about the room (209) is there was a stain (looked like ink) below the desk area, so your eyes were drawn to this as you walked in. I know that there is a man with a trolley who goes around touching up the scuffed paint areas within the hotel to keep it looking fresh and spotless, The same care and attention to the carpet stain would definitely improve customers first impression. I can see the staff team are continually working together with cleaning and improvements at this hotel. For instance the building has been painted since last year and the bar is going through a major refurbish. We had breakfast in the hotel most mornings as we tend to like a continental breakfast due to dietary requirements. It actually worked out cheaply at $11.54 for two people including tax. This includes cereal, fruit , toast, bagels, muffins and cookies with as much tea or coffee you wish to drink. The full 'eat as much as you want' breakfast was around $7.95 plus tax, but included all the hot food choices and fresh juices as well as hot drinks and children under a certain age eat free I believe with two adults paying. We always found the food areas well cleaned and well stocked and the staff team were also very attentive, friendly and helpful. They enhance our stay. There is a small Gym, a video games room and the 'Lite Bite' shop which sells all the essentials you may have forgotten, open 24 hours.. But if you are having a pool day, it sells some tasty sandwiches, fruit, dinks and small meals especially for the pool area. I love the location of this hotel. You can walk around the corner and within 15 -20 minutes you can be at the Universal studios. We like walking so the fact that the international drive is packed with restaurants, attractions, activities and shows, there is so much to do when not in the parks. International drive is under going a massive re-development. New attractions such as the Orlando Eye, Tussauds, sea life centre. It's so peaceful in the day time and comes to life at night. our favourite drink was at the 'Twin Peaks' ice cold and some lovely staff. We tested out getting to Disney on the bus services last year and time was around 45 minutes on two buses. This year however it sometimes took an hour but could take anything up to 2 hours depending on the rush times. The reason we felt this was happening was because of the traffic build up around the long stretch of road works on the top side of 'Downtown Disney'. But also sometimes the number 8 Lynx bus from outside our hotel to Sea harbour drive, didn't always connect time wise well with the 50 from sea Harbour Drive to the Magic Kingdom. Get a time table from the Official Orlando visitor centre which is opposite the Friendly's restaurant on international drive. If the length of time travelling doesn't bother you and you get the $16 7 day lynx pass that gives you unlimited travel. you can get up and down the I-drive to the outlets, cinemas, restaurants and get on and off where you want. The Lynx 8 follows the same route as the I-trolley. Across from the hotel you can get bus 42 to Florida Mall and the Airport. What a fantastic holiday we had, We look forward to visiting the Rosen Inn again, I hope on our 3rd visit we manage to get up another floor. Read less
