TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
They (RCI) said this was a 4 crown resort when I booked the week as in exchange on my St. Maartin timeshare. I think they stretched it just a bit. Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake is a... Read more large resort that boasts 9 restaurants, golf course, multiple mini-golf courses, a lazy river and more. This is definitely a family oriented resort in Kissimee, literally minutes from Disney World. Check in was quick, but then we went to a second desk for our parking pass. We didn't have a car due to Hertz trying to screw us over but we went over. OK, this is the "let's get you signed up for a sales pitch" desk. They said 60 minutes, it includes a tour and I'll get 2 tickets for "7 Days of Fun". Basically access to the floats for the lazy river, unlimited mini-golf and access to the inflatable 40' water slide. There was no tour, it's a 90 minute "presentation" and when I mentioned the fact that I was told it was 60 minutes and tour they said "no it isn't". OK. I did get my tickets and they didn't push me *too* hard because they knew I was absolutely not interested. The hallway to our room was very musty smelling, I guess they never heard of air fresheners. The room was nice, clean and a little musty smelling when you first walk in. The balcony overlooked part of the golf course and is screened in, which is really nice. There is NO maid service. No mid-week towel and linens refresh, no trash pickup... nothing! I found this very weird. Plus, there's no where to dump your trash so you've got it in your room the whole week. Not bad for 2 people, but what if you've got kids and you're changing diapers? The coffee pot was broken. Luckily I noticed this at 10:00 PM, I called and they by 10:15 I had a new pot all setup and ready to go in the morning. Coffee for 1 day is provided, no refills. The drying machine (the room had a washer and dryer) had a broken timer. So if you threw our clothes in and went off to Disney... the dryer would still be running when you returned hours later. The shuttle service for the resort is erratic at best. You really need to get a car for the week. The shuttle to/from Disney is $20.00 per person per day. The lazy river had showers that were broken and was a fraction of the size we were told when we registered. Breezes is the restaurant near registration and has good food, entertainment and friendly servers/bartenders. We like Breezes and found it affordable; we really liked the refillable drink cups so the price of alcohol was very reasonable. Legacy, on the other hand, is very expensive and has a really crappy breakfast buffet. If you don't like eggs or can't eat eggs then you better like fruit for breakfast. Disappointing to say the least. What am I supposed to do with the pizza boxes from Wednesday night??? The towels at the pool are small bath towels and the bins run out pretty quickly. Other places we've been, the pool towels have been full size beach towels 6' long. There were small... smaller than my bath towels. And thin like a dish towel. That's when you could actually find them. Shower supplies (soap, shampoo, etc) also do not get replenished. You are expected to bring/buy your own. They have an on-site store that sells everything, with a Starbucks and a pizza shop. I called for additional towels and got them without a fuss. I guess you're expected to wash your towels. To that I say... Hell no! I am NOT washing resort towels when I'm there on vacation! The place was quiet. We had no trouble sleeping at night. As I said the room was clean, the hallway smelled and outside/landscaping could use some work. I don't know, am I spoiled by Divi?? Is all this typical of a resort in the US? So, to wrap up I would say the resort was nice, not great and certainly not a 4 crown resort. We won't go back as we are use to receiving more from a resort and just didn't feel this one was for us. I was sent an invitation to stay at the 2/2 villa if I attended their 1 hr presentation. It wasn't a bad deal so I booked it. After booking I read some horrible reviews about the place being... Read more outdated, appliances not working, bugs, no housekeeping, keys never worked, etc. I went there with low expectations but found it to be really nice. We ended up in a 6-story building in the East Village on the top floor. It was still a 2/2 so I didn't mind. The place was immaculate and seemed like fairly new construction or recently remodeled. The only thing that bothered me the most was at check in we were told the presentation was 90 min long. Well after attending and turning down 5 of their salespeople it turned out to be 2 hrs and 15 long. I really didn't take advantage of any of the amenities except the pool so I cannot comment on that. Pool at the River Village was beautiful and landscaping was lush. I didn't visit any of the other villages. Oh and a plus...we got to see the Magic Kingdom's nightly fireworks from our balcony every night!! Read less
Very large time share property. The rooms are spacious and modern and very clean. We stayed there as hotel guests and were bombarded by time share salesman upon arriving to check in. Apparently they... Read more don't do room make-ups because not once in the 3 days we were there did we get fresh towels or the beds made up while we were out. The central location to Disney World and Universal was great. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. We ate at Breezes inside the hotel grounds. It is right by the pool and had a band playing. Decent food. Many people told us they will come and stay for weeks and never leave the area because there are so many different amenities. Golf, different pools, several different restaurants and your room has a kitchenette for staying in. We will definitely be back and will bring our kids along for the stay! Read less
