Stayed at the Orange Lake Resort as part of a golf vacation. I stayed in a one bedroom club house, which as clean, extremely roomy with its separate bedroom, kitchen and living area. Check-in was... Read more efficient and fast. They did make a pitch for their timeshares, however as I prebooked all my golf games prior to my arrival, they left me alone during my 2 night stay. Great value for what you pay for and it is close to all attractions and resturants. We be back again next year. Read less
Just got back from 6 nights here and had a great time. 2 bedroom villa we were in was very spacious, nicely a/ced, clean and had everything you needed really. Beds were especially comfy which lead... Read more to great nights sleep despite some jet lag. Yes it does not have maid service, but we coped as how often do you go around cleaning your house when you are not on holiday?? We had no problems with check in as the desk was well staffed and everyone was very friendly, especially to my daughter. But appreciate that we did not check in at a particularly busy time. We were in the east village which was nice and quiet and right next to the 5th green on the Legends golf course. There was some noise from the greenkeepers pretty early in the morning, but as a golfer myself this was a great view to have! The Legends course is well worth playing, but beware of long rounds as despite everyone being in carts they seem to let anyone on no matter what their ability, which slows thing down. But as I said it's a great course. Mostly used the place as a base to visit the parks that are close by, but had a couple of days there in the pools. The main pool at River Island gets very busy but the smaller ones are much less hectic. And they do charge you for extras like rings for the lazy river. But we are from the UK and are used to getting charged for everything, so it did not strike us as a problem. The place is huge but they do have a shuttle service if you need it, or you can drive to where you want to be which is no real hardship. Food was fine in the Legends grill. Elsewhere it was kind of standard, nothing hugely great but fine and filled a gap. Perhaps it would not kill someone to add some vegetables to kids meals and not cover the kids fries in lots of salt. But as we found it this seems to be an standard thing and is not unique to this resort. We mostly ate out during the day and made our own tea from stuff bought at the large Publix which is on site. With regards to the time share selling then I don't quite understand all the fuss and moaning some people are doing. If you have got a cheap vacation because you agreed to go on the presentation then to some extent suck it up, just sit through it and say no. If you are just staying here then again there is no one forcing you to sit through it. If people are so desperate to be comped a free round of golf or meal or reduced tickets to the parks in return for a time share presentation then you will get the hard sell in return, there's nothing for free nowadays. If you think it's worth 3 hours of your holiday then fair play and go for it, but you will get the hard sell as that's kind of what time share sales people do. All we did is when we checked in and were given the voucher to 'redeem' at another desk was ignore it, walked straight to our car and drove to our apartment. We then unplugged the phone and hey presto, never bothered at all all week. Ironic thing is that if we were in the market for a time share we would seriously consider this, may be if we win the lottery. All in all a great place to stay and if we come to Orlando again we will seriously consider staying here. Read less
We have come to Orange Lake three times now and have loved it every time! We like that we can stay in a villa that is much like having a comfortable home to come back to at the end of a BIG day at... Read more one of the Disney Parks or Universal, or just swimming around at Splash Lagoon, or floating around the long lazy river :) The units have always been clean in our experiences, and I am very picky in that way. We already are RCI owners so we know how to avoid the timeshare presentations, although I have to say, my family is VERY HAPPY that we went to a presentation in a different location so we were able to find Orange Lake, we are happy owners! I just don't want to be bugged about going to another meeting each time we visit. We just don't go to the next booth after we check in to be "validated". After traveling for so many hours, we just want to get to our vacation :) Anyway, as always, we loved Orange Lake, there are so many things to do! The drinks are absurdly EXPENSIVE, hwy robbery, but we can choose not to drink too many at that price :( We will be back again soon! No doubt, our whole family loves it here, kids, parents and grandparents alike! The supervisors who oversaw the cleaning of our room were awesome too! Our room was not quite ready when we drove up to it at 5:00 pm, and he was very sweet and apologetic about it. Great people! Read less
We've stayed at Orange Lake many times. Easily the best pool areas you can ever find. Resort is huge and you can take shuttles to the many pool areas. Villas are always spotless and the grounds... It's an awful way to spend 3-4 hours of your vacation. Saying they are pushy salesmen is being way too kind. We got smart years ago and refused to take any tours after a few nasty encounters. Having read all the reviews mentioning timeshare sales pressure at the resort, we have to say that we did not experience this - we were approached as soon as we checked in by a lady in a blue shirt who offered to take us to validate the free vouchers offered by reception. We refused and that was it - we were never bothered again. The resort is huge and one may need to drive to the pool etc. Small grocery store on site. However, for bigger shops there are supermarkets within a mile of the resort. The Disney Parks were only 15 minutes away and therefore we felt the resort to be very conveniently located. All in all, a good resort! Read less
