I am an owner of a 1-week timeshare purchased through RCI in 2002. This is our third trip to Orange Lake Resort and, although we loved Florida and the theme parks, our experience with Orange Lake... Read more has been very disappointing. We received a notice that the resort were updating the apartment locks and that they would give us 24 hours notice when the work would be carried out. We were told that there would be an Orange Lake security representative with the workman to ensure the security of the apartment as the workman would have to enter the apartment to carry out the work, however when we arrived back from a day out yesterday the apartment door was wide open with the lights left on and debris from the work had been left on the floor!!! We also hadn't been told that the work was going to be done. We received an apology but the overall impression I got from the staff we dealt with was that they didn't understand why I was complaining because nothing had been taken. Whilst the close proximity of the Disney parks is a bonus, overall I would not recommend Orange Lake to other holiday makers. Also, be warned about the Founders meeting they invite you to - they told me that I would be told about the new facilities and updates to my ownership and was promised goodies as a reward for attending and that the meeting would last about 45 minutes - I was then subjected to almost two hours of hard sell trying to get me to buy into their "points" scheme at a cost of about $6,000 - they then treat you as though you have wasted their time when you say no and don't change your mind!!!! I did get $75 at the end but no passes as had been promised and she practically threw the money across the counter at me! I don't know why this year has been such a disappointment but I do wonder whether this resort has just got too big. Read less

We have owned at orange lakes for 12 years now and go probably every other year which really suits us. This is a great place and I had to really think is it 4 or 5 stars. This time I went for 4 just... Read more because of a few minor details that kept it from being excellent. The room was nice but it was a bit tired in a few places but the bed was so comfy. With regards to air conditioning it's a shame you can't control it in single rooms certain members of my family like a warm bedroom but I would rather sleep in a cold room so that's a shame and one main reason why I marked it down. Also the quality of the loo paper stinks ( get the pun ) it's very poor we went to publix and bought our own. The golf courses were not the best ive seen them I'm a golf pro in the uk and I noticed a lot of disease in greens but this maybe down to the new company taking over running of golf courses and not putting the money into them. If you like playing golf then have a really good look on internet as we found golf on the legends for just $16 dollars each with cart !!! The positives as always the amount of pools are great a long with the free towels that you get, plenty of bars to drink from. The grounds here are really great that's why we bought in the first place and even today they are so well manicured and presented to the highest level. Can't comment on food as we either stayed in apartment to eat or went out and picked a resturant on the 192. You have publix on entrance to orange lakes or a wall mart about 5 miles away so plenty of good food available if you do fancy staying in. Didn't do timeshare meeting and haven't done for a few years now just told them we weren't interested in there $20 voucher got one more call and was offered $100 to go said no and never got hassled again. All in all a great place to stay loved our 2 weeks here and shall be back next year possibly but defo in 2 years time Read less

We are RCI members so we used our points for this resort. Check in was ok, asked for any kind of upgrade and they gave us a 3 bedroom, 3 bath villa-which was awesome, but it was the farthest away in... Read more the East Village. However, resort has great shuttle service throughout the grounds. It's the shuttle services to the theme parks that is bad! They wanted $20.00 per person, per day for a shuttle to Disney or Universal. Since we were a family of 5 and our visit was to go to Disney, this would have costed a fortune!!! We had to take taxis everywhere. Be careful as taxi services for large groups (5 or more people) are not reliable. On the plus side....if you go grocery shopping at the Publix on the corner of the East gate, you can walk with your groceries to the security gate and they will have a shuttle pick you up. Don't think I would ever stay here again. It was nice, but there are nicer resorts that offer free shuttle service to the theme parks. Read less

We stayed at Orange Lake resort for 4 days, the resort was so beautiful. My family and I stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa by the waterpark. The room was very nice, I would not call it a Villa. The first... Read more thing I found when I got to the room was a dirty sock in one of my dresser draws . Also I requested a pool view and the 8th floor. I got the 8th floor, and was told I was lucky to get that and a early check in. That night my grandson complained of something biting him, I called the customer service and they sent this man up with a dog to find the critters. That was the creepiest thing I have ever been in. He said he had to close the bedroom door and lock it. He tore the bed up and in the process I lost about $64 dollars of items off the bed. When he went to bedroom 2 he did not close the door kind of weird. Did not check couches or rugs. Then Mr. Mercer in customer service accused me of bringing in the bugs( nice touch). The door to the second bedroom never closed so the 2 young ladies had no privacy during our stay. Needless to say my grandson had a wonderful time at the waterpark. I did e-mail Mr. Reyes about all the issues and to my surprise he only address one of my concerns. It did put a damper on my vacation and I am not sure I will return. Most of the staff were very courteous and professional. It is a cash less resort so bring lots of credit cards. All I can say is good luck and watch out for the bugs. Read less

Orange Lake never dissapoints. The accomodations are spacious. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is always accomodating. Anything you need is one phone call away. We have been owners since... Read more around 1997 and seeing all the changes and expansions the resort has done is amazing. Splash Lagoon makes you feel like your in a resort somewhere in the Caribbean. The kids loved the lazy river. The food court by the pool area was convenient. There are activities every day too. It's close to all the parks. You will not be disappointed staying at Orange Lake Resort. Read less
