TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
Ok, firstly, we all know this place is a timeshare when booking so be prepared for the sales pitch upon checking in. We knew in advance and even after a 10 hour flight from UK still took them up on... Read more their offer of a tour (more to follow on that). The check in process was smooth and quick enough, in and out inside 15 mins and in room 5 mins later. The "villa" itself was really a 2 bed apartment, but was very nice with a private balcony overlooking a lake and golf course. Bedrooms were a good size, living room with attached full kitchen was nice too. All in all, would give the unit 4 out of 5 for amenities and cleanliness. The resort itself is huge, have a look on google maps and you will get to appreicate the size of this place. Lots to choose from, pools, golfing, restaurants, shops etc. This is a cashless resort, so be prepared to pay for everything upon check out, we did and were surprised by how little we had spent in the resort, although we were out and about every day and ate out the vast majority of the time. Ok, the timeshare picth. Booked on tour, which was ot last 90 mins. Well we were actually there for approx 3 hours, but were treated well, they just really want to sell any type of timeshare deal to you. We started off with their top units at around $45,000 to "own" 3 weeks per year, then they moved to $30,000 for 2 weeks and reduced until we finally had an offer of one week per 2 years for about $100/month. We tend to travel to the states twice a year and were interested to see the costs, but stood firm and declined their offers. As promised, i got a free round of golf and discounted tickets to Seaworld/IOA and Universal Studios. Everyone on sales picth was nice enough and were only trying to do their job, which is understandible given the economy in the states. Anyway, to summarise, lovely resort, huge, lots to do, nice staff, clean rooms, good selection of pools and activities and location (if driving) isn't too bad. You are probably a 20/25min drive from the likes of Seaworld and I drive if thats what you're looking for. Didn't encounter any problems during our 2 week stay, security in/out of resort entrance was good and we would go back for sure. Solid choice if you have been to Orlando before and know you're way about when driving, but probably would not recommend to anyone who does not drive. Read less
My Family and I travel here every year around November and we've just returned from two weeks holiday, overall a pleasant stay in the East Village. The resort is nice but we used very few of... Read more facilities as we are out most days. On arrival my father was offered a $20 dollar gift voucher if he visited the 'tour' the next day, we were all very tired and already own two timeshares so politely refused. It was taken from him and we went on our way. We had no issues with bugs except for one dead cockroach. There seemed to be lots of noise such as bin men very early in the morning. Also every morning starting from 8am we would receive a phone call from the timeshare people, this happened five or six times every day. I don't wish to be woken up at 8am Sunday morning on my holiday. River Island, the only place we visited, was clean and the staff attentive. The resort was in a very good location, less than 30 minutes from all major theme parks and shops. Just outside the resort is a Publix and across the way is a supertarget (a bit like Asda for UK visitors) and many other restaurants and shops. I would recommend Orange lake to others however don't be fooled by the the $20 gift voucher and tour of the resort. Ignore the phone or unplug from the wall if you do not wish to be disturbed during your stay. Read less
This was our second time at Orange Lake and we enjoyed it even more than the first visit. Everything was clean and the staff is very helpful. We had an issue with our dryer not working and they fixed... Read more it quickly and were very kind. No problem with people harassing us about buying a timeshare. Will stay here again and would recommend it to anyone. Very convenient to Disney and shopping. We stayed in the East Village. Read less
This resort is beautiful. I was nervous about our stay because I had previously read some reviews concerning bed bugs, roaches and the smell of animal poop from Animal Kingdom. We encountered none... Read more of these. The place is spotless. My only complaints are a lack of parking (we stayed in a building with 4 units and it only had 4 parking spaces and we brought two vehicles. We arrived late one evening and had to park down the street and walk back to our unit. At night, when the entertainment closed, we waited 1/2 hours for the resort shuttle and it never came. It was only 11 pm and it was suppose to run until midnight. When we went into the office to check on it, the office employee gave us a ride in the resorts van. The sales pitch was a little pushy but I knew that going into it and anyone that doesn't expect that has never been to a timeshare sales pitch before. Obviously they are in it to make money. We did have a problem with our coffee maker smoking and quitting but we called the office and they brought us a new one rather quickly. I would definitely stay here again. Read less
This is the second time we have been to Orange Lake. We again enjoyed all aspects. We like the two room suites and the two larger beds in the second. Needed a couple of things for the kitchen and... Read more guest services were right there and a follow up call later. The calls from the office with promotions, sometimes three a day, are a little tiring if you are one that can not let a phone ring. Being picky I would say the coffee cups are to small, would like to see mugs, and the living room furniture was very uncomfortable. Maybe we noticed it this time as the weather was more for sitting inside. Great place! Would recommend it to you all. Read less
